NORTHBOROUGH — Despite a revitalization plan being struck down at Town Meeting last month, Northborough’s downtown will still see some updates. “The plan with this project is to continue to figure out creative ways to fund it,” said Northborough Planning Director Laurie Connors. SHREWSBURY — Shrewsbury High School has cleared another hurdle for an eventual expansion. On May 20, the second night of Town Meeting, Shrewsbury’s elected representatives green-lit Article 32, which asked for approval and $35,000 to create a Shrewsbury High School Building Committee, an early step in a process sure to generate more discussion in future government meetings. SHREWSBURY — A celebrity walked through the halls of Shrewsbury High. On May 21, James B. Jones spent the day at locations around town. Jones, 37, rose to fame after appearing on Netflix’s hit show “Love on the Spectrum,” which premiered in May 2022. The Massachusetts native most recently appeared in the show’s third season, which premiered in April. A self-described “proud nerd,” Jones has accumulated over 800,000 Instagram followers. Jones traveled at the invitation of a former town assistant superintendent – and huge fan of the show. Jones started his day at Shrewsbury High School, where he gave an interview at the school’s television

studio. From there, he toured several classrooms. Students marveled as they saw this Netflix celebrity walk the hallways. Then, about 50 Shrewsbury students and staff attended a “Lunch and Learn” session with Jones, who went into detail about his experience with autism. The show “Love on the Spectrum” has followed Jones and others “on the spectrum” as they look for companionship. After wrapping up at Shrewsbury High School, Jones visited Maple & Main, the home of Shrewsbury’s Reaching Independence through Supported Employment (RISE) Program, which provides 18- to 22-year-old special-education students “with the skills and experiences they need to be successful members of the Jones | 2
