Organization offers yoga classes to help veterans, first responders

MARLBOROUGH – A six-hour standoff at Val’s Mobile Home Park resulted in the arrest of Christopher Harper for two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, threat to commit a crime and disturbing the peace. At 1:17 p.m. Jan. 11, police responded to a report that Harper was allegedly smashing the windows and breaking furniture on the deck of his trailer on Ethel Avenue. According to the statement of facts filed in Marlborough District Court, when officers arrived they “could clearly observe damage to the windows at the front of the trailer.” An officer knocked on his front door. Although Harper reportedly didn’t respond, the officer said he heard “yelling” and banging inside. Additional officers were called to the scene. According to police, Harper came onto his deck and “appeared to be intoxicated and was yelling obscenities at all officers” as one officer was attempting to speak with him. Police said Harper had a knife in his hand, and he was instructed “several times” to drop it. At one point, officers wrote that Harper began stabbing the walls and light of the trailer. “Mr. Harper turned to look at me and raised the knife up over his head in an aggres-

For Lauren Turner, it’s a way to find the “Warrior Within.” Turner recently established the Natickbased Warrior Within Yoga Project as a way to help veterans, first responders, their caretakers and family members deal with “inner issues” such as anxiety, post-traumatic stress syndrome, depression and stress. “There’s an urgent need for this,” said Turner, who is the president and executive director. She began practicing yoga in 2011; in 2016 she earned her certification and began teaching. She ran yoga studios in Framingham until

Belisle is succeeding Margaret Cardello, who

is retiring from the position after over 12 years of service with the city. Belisle is a Marlborough resident who comes to the library after serving in numerous leadership positions at Newton Free Library.
