Church members voice concerns about traffic from proposed Lincoln Street developments By Maureen Sullivan Senior Reporter MARLBOROUGH – Two housing proposals – one already approved by the city, the other in a preliminary stage – could spruce up Lincoln Street, or make it more congested. During a public hearing conducted by the City Council on Nov. 21, Terrence Morris, on behalf of 272 Lincoln St. LLC, presented preliminary plans for a 12-unit, multifamily dwelling with accessory parking. Morris said the developer is requesting a special permit because of zoning. The site is located within the Neighborhood Business District.

ARC celebrates 50 years of helping addicts recover By Maureen Sullivan Senior Reporter MARLBOROUGH – It was a cold and rainy midweek morning at the Addiction Referral Center off Main Street. It was also a rare morning. It was quiet. There were no meetings taking place, and no one was seeking help at the moment. Elspeth Simoni, the center’s executive director, and Tracey Gustafson, a member of the center’s board of directors, discussed the ARC’s past 50 years, and what it would take to keep the center going for another 50 years. The key to the center’s success – lots of volunteers. “This has always been a grassroots organization,” said Gustafson. “We still rely on a lot of volunteers.”
