Survey of the Built-Environment Professions in the Commonwealth 1. Introduction

This survey is being undertaken jointly by the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA), The Commonwealth Association of Engineers (CEC), the Commonwealth Association of Planners (CAP) and the Commonwealth Association of Surveyors and Land Economy (CASLE) amongst member and non-member organisations which represent the principal built-environment professions in the Commonwealth. Its purpose is to assess the capacity of the profession to respond to the challenges and opportunities presented by issues such as climate change and increasing urbanisation, and to engage with the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The information collected, and subsequent analysis, will be disseminated to all member and non-member organisations in order to help advance the professions in the Commonwealth. The timing of the survey coincides with the 70th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth and reflects this year’s theme of ‘A Connected Commonwealth’. The results of the survey will be presented at the Word Urban Forum in Abu Dhabi and also at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to be held in Rwanda in June 2020. The survey comprises the following sections: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.
