Our 22 x 15-foot Volume virtual production wall allows students to create virtual environments that are only limited by their imaginations. Virtual backgrounds are integrated with physical environments, props, and actors to create scenes that are often quite literally out of this world.
Creative careers start here. Bring your creative ideas to life on screens big and small while mastering media production skills at the School of Film and Television. Ranked among the best by “Variety,” “The Hollywood Reporter,” and “MovieMaker,” Columbia offers hands-on learning in producing, screenwriting, directing, production design, cinematography, editing, and sound—on location and on physical and virtual production sets. Many of our faculty actively work in film and TV, bringing real-world experience and industry insights directly into the classroom. Come collaborate with Columbia’s community of actors, writers, and game designers to make movie magic, and take advantage of Columbia’s Semester in LA program to gain entertainment industry experience and make connections through internships and networking events.

Columbia’s Film and Television facilities include our 35,500 square-foot state-of-theart Media Production Center, where students get hands-on experience with innovative equipment like the Volume Wall, which makes virtual production a reality. Here, students learn, collaborate, and create in a professional-quality media-making space with three soundstages, prep and production spaces, and classrooms. At Columbia, you’ll also find our Film Row Cinema, a 260-seat theatre for film screenings, lectures, discussions with industry guest-speakers, and more.
