DEAR CSG FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS, This year, our community came together in extraordinary ways, raising more than $8 million in support of our students and our School — a record-breaking milestone for CSG and a powerful testament to the strength and generosity of our community. Of that total, $1.5 million was invested in CSG’s Annual Fund, our most important fundraising priority each year. Annual Fund support sustains the foundational excellence of a CSG education, providing critical resources that impact every student, every day. Another $1.5 million was directed toward enhancing CSG’s exceptional academic program and student experience. These gifts supported renowned speakers and special programs, improvements to our campus, and the launch of new athletic teams and opportunities that enrich student life. In addition, our community contributed $5 million in endowed funds. Endowment gifts provide a stable financial foundation for CSG and generate annual support in perpetuity, ensuring that future generations of students benefit from the same transformative educational experience that defines our School today. While these totals are remarkable, what matters most is what they made possible. I think about the students who traveled to Peru, Italy, and the Netherlands, gaining new perspectives and a deeper understanding of the world around them. I picture our Upper School students attending events such as the Women’s Fund Keyholder

Event and the YWCA Women of Achievement Luncheon — spaces where they were reminded that they belong, that their voices matter, and that they are capable of leading with purpose. I remember watching our Lower School dance their hearts out in PE class with The Thiossane Institute as they fostered their cultural awareness and creativity all while building confidence and experiencing the joy that comes with dance, drumming, and expressive movement.
I also think about what happens every day on our campus: students learning from exceptional faculty, facilities that reflect the experience they deserve, and opportunities to grow that extend well beyond the classroom.
Each gift helped turn possibility into reality. It opened doors, expanded opportunities, and ensured that our students were not simply observers of the world around them, but active participants in shaping it. DEAR CSG COMMUNITY, Each year, the financial work of Columbus School for Girls is guided by the same responsibility: to align our resources with the mission of the School while protecting CSG’s long-term financial health. That work requires discipline, transparency, and a careful balance between supporting today’s students and faculty and preparing for future needs. The operating budget is the financial expression of the daily CSG experience. It supports our people, programs, facilities, financial aid, and the many resources that allow students to learn and thrive. Each year brings different opportunities and pressures, including enrollment trends, affordability, compensation, facilities needs, and broader economic conditions. Our responsibility is to manage those variables with clarity and care, while continuing to make decisions that reflect the School’s mission and values. Philanthropy plays an important role in this work. Annual and unrestricted giving help strengthen the operating foundation of the School, while restricted and endowment gifts provide meaningful support for specific priorities and long-term sustainability. As CSG looks ahead to future capital needs and campaign priorities, it is important to recognize that long-term investments and annual operating support are both essential to the health of the School. This year, CSG benefited from significant gifts to endowed funds. Endowed gifts are unique because the principal is preserved in perpetuity, with only a portion of the investment earnings used each year to support the School. As a result, these gifts provide lasting resources that help ensure CSG remains the premier school for girls in central Ohio, educating and inspiring generations of students for years to come. By investing in endowed funds, our donors help build a permanent financial foundation for CSG. The endowment serves as an important source of stability and opportunity, supporting the School’s mission while providing resources that allow us to plan responsibly, invest strategically, and sustain excellence for generations to come. Annual Fund The Annual Fund is the top philanthropic priority at Columbus School for Girls. These gifts provide approximately 10% of the School’s operating budget and help bridge the gap between tuition and the full cost of a CSG education. Each year, alumnae, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends come together to invest in the School’s mission and demonstrate their collective commitment to the School. These unrestricted gifts fuel every aspect of the CSG experience, strengthening the academic program and ensuring students benefit from exceptional teaching, innovative opportunities, and a learning environment grounded in excellence. Philanthropic support plays a vital role in independent school education. It gives the School the flexibility to deliver a mission-driven program that nurtures intellectual curiosity, encourages critical thinking, and inspires a lifelong love of learning. It also allows the School to make decisions based on what is best for students rather than external mandates. The Annual Fund does not support extras, instead it sustains the educational experience that defines CSG. It helps attract and retain outstanding faculty, provide meaningful opportunities for students and preserve the vibrant, diverse community that makes the School so special. Annual Fund giving allows the School to manage tuition costs, making a CSG education accessible for all girls of great promise. The School’s fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30. Every gift, of every size, reflects a shared investment and collective belief in the mission of CSG and the success of its students.

INVESTING IN WHAT MATTERS MOST: GRATITUDE, COMMUNITY, AND THE FUTURE OF GIRLS’ EDUCATION When Gina Olsen P’30’32’37 and her family first visited Columbus School for Girls, they were searching for an early childhood program for their oldest daughter. What they found was a sense of community. “The second we walked into the Mansion at CSG, we just had a feeling,” Olsen said. “We had a sense of belonging and alignment.” Today, with three daughters at the School, her connection extends beyond her family’s experience. Through volunteer leadership and philanthropic engagement, she has become an advocate for the community she says has given her family so much in return. For her, supporting CSG stems from understanding the role philanthropy plays in sustaining independent schools and from deep gratitude for the educators who shape her daughters’ lives. “My reason why is definitely the faculty,” she said. “We are so lucky to have such incredible humans with our children all day long.” That gratitude also reflects an appreciation for generations of families and donors who invested in the School before her. “We stand on the shoulders of the donors who came before us,” she said. “I’m in a place of deep gratitude for everyone who helped make all of these opportunities today possible.”
As a parent volunteer, she has witnessed the impact of participation at every level — through time, financial support, and shared commitment to the School’s mission. “Everything I do at CSG gives back more than I put in,” she said of her volunteer work. “Whether it’s getting to know the teachers, getting to know other families, or understanding what’s happening in class.” For Olsen, the power of a CSG education lies not only in academic rigor, but in the confidence cultivated through a girl-centered environment where every student has space to lead. “At CSG, my daughters’ voices are important and their unique strengths are recognized,” she said. “The School cultivates leadership, curiosity, and community. It has given my girls the confidence and educational foundation they need to pursue their dreams.”

Building Access Through Community SCHOLARSHIP WALK AND STUDENT PHILANTHROPY Scholarship Walk is a beloved tradition dating back to 1972 that brings the entire School community together to raise funds for tuition assistance. While the route and distance have evolved over time, the mission remains constant: ensuring every girl who could thrive at CSG has the opportunity to do so. During the 2025–26 school year, $4 million in scholarships and tuition assistance supported 44% of the student body, reflecting the impact of that shared commitment. The event’s continued success is driven by the dedicated Scholarship Walk Committee, a group of Upper School student volunteers who spend months planning, organizing, and encouraging participation in the 12
experience each year. Taking place in early May, the 2026 event featured a Mario Kart theme that added energy and excitement to the longstanding tradition. Scholarship Walk provided students across all divisions with an opportunity to practice generosity and community responsibility. While PYC and Lower School students participated through age-appropriate activities and fundraising efforts, approximately 80% of Middle School students made a gift this year. This level of engagement reflects a culture where philanthropy begins early. Student leaders noted that the campaign’s impact was rooted not in dollars raised, but in broad participation and a shared commitment to making a difference.
“I think every girl at CSG is blessed enough to be able to go here,” said Simone Smyth ’31. “As the students who do have the opportunity to attend CSG, I think it’s especially important that we help raise money. Scholarship Walk is special because we all want to contribute, and it’s not something we have to do. It’s something we choose to do.” For three weeks, the Middle School student body encouraged classmates, organized reminders, and celebrated participation. “Our minimum was 50 cents,” Helen Reis ’31 explained. “We weren’t counting how much we had. We were counting the percent of people who bought in to the mission of Scholarship Walk.”
Astrid Seals ’30 added, “It was incredible to see everyone show up for the community in that way. Seeing so many people participate made a big difference and showed how much our School cares about making opportunities possible for other girls.” What started as a rainy day became a living example of resilience. Undeterred by the weather, students, faculty, and staff walked together, remained optimistic, and found joy in simply showing up for one another. When asked to summarize Scholarship Walk in one word, the answer was unanimous:
“United.”

Serving on the Columbus School for Girls’ Board of Trustees has been both a privilege and an opportunity to reconnect with a School that has meant so much to me. As an alumna and not a current parent, Board service gave me a unique window into today’s CSG. It allowed me to see firsthand how the School has preserved the qualities that made it special when I was a student while continuing to evolve to meet the needs of girls today. I am especially proud of the intentional work the Board accomplished around governance and long-term sustainability. We strengthened trustee onboarding, formalized governance practices and expanded the Board nationally to reflect the reach and influence of the CSG community. Bringing talented leaders from across the country into LIZA board service has broadened our perspective, strengthened our KESSLER ’86 14
expertise and positioned the School well for the future. I am also proud of the Board’s work to identify and recruit exceptional leadership, ensuring that CSG remains well positioned for continued success. What stood out most during my tenure was the extraordinary learning environment created by our faculty, staff, and School leadership. Sitting in on classes, hearing directly from teachers and watching students engage with one another reminded me that CSG remains a place where girls are challenged academically, supported personally, and encouraged to lead with confidence. The joy of learning and the meaningful connections across grade levels continue to distinguish the CSG experience. I leave board service deeply grateful for the friendships, leadership, and shared commitment that shaped this experience. I am optimistic about the future of CSG and excited for the generations of girls who will continue to discover their strengths, find their voices and thrive in this remarkable community.”
Serving on the Board of Trustees at Columbus School for Girls has given me a unique opportunity to watch the School grow. Over the past nine years, CSG has built an incredibly strong foundation. Enrollment is growing, the endowment is growing, and the School is operating from a position of strength that sets it up to accelerate into the next decade. What makes me most proud is how the School reached this point. During a period marked by a global pandemic, economic uncertainty, and significant change, the Board and School leadership stayed focused on the mission. While challenges swirled around us, they made thoughtful decisions that CHRIS consistently put the School and its students first. OLSEN P’30’32’37
The moments I will remember most involve the girls themselves. One that stands out is when a group of students organized a fundraising effort to support families affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. They saw something happening in the world, believed they could help, and came to the trustees with a plan. Within moments, the room rallied behind them and they reached their goal. It was a powerful reminder of who CSG students are — confident, compassionate, and determined to make an impact. Board service also gave me a deeper appreciation for the people who make that experience possible. The joy, confidence, and resilience we see in our students do not happen by accident. They reflect the dedication of faculty and staff who work every day to challenge, support, and inspire our girls. Seeing that commitment up close has been one of the greatest privileges of serving as a trustee.”

Q
Can you share a memorable experience that reflects what makes the CSG community special? One of the things that stands out most to me is how welcoming the community has been to my daughters. They joined CSG as freshmen after attending another school, and as newcomers, they could have easily felt like outsiders. Instead, their classmates embraced them and made them feel as though they had been part of the community since kindergarten. Watching them build meaningful friendships and become fully integrated into the School has shown me just how special the CSG sisterhood truly is.

What inspired you to support CSG as a donor? Before my daughters attended CSG, I experienced the benefits of a single-sex education myself. I understand the value of an environment specifically designed to empower young women, and I’ve seen firsthand the impact it has had on my daughters. Supporting CSG is a way to help ensure that future generations of students have access to the same transformative experience. I believe deeply in the School’s mission and want to do my part to help sustain it for the next 125 years and beyond.

What aspects of the student experience are especially meaningful to you? As a member of the athletics community, I see every day how sports contribute to the development of young women. Athletics teach leadership, teamwork, perseverance, and confidence. Whether students participate in team sports or individual competitions, they learn valuable lessons about responsibility and resilience. Athletics are an important part of what helps create a well-rounded educational experience at CSG.

What do you hope future generations of students will gain from their CSG experience? I hope they gain the confidence to lead. One of the greatest strengths of a girls’ school is that students are encouraged to take risks, speak up, and embrace leadership opportunities. CSG provides an environment where girls can learn, grow, and discover their strengths surrounded by peers who support and encourage them. That foundation will serve them well throughout their lives.

What would you say to someone considering supporting CSG philanthropically? Come experience it for yourself. Attend a theater production, a concert, an athletic event, or any of the many activities happening on campus. When you see our students in action and witness the confidence, talent, and joy they bring to everything they do, you’ll understand the value of a CSG education. Seeing the mission come to life firsthand is what inspires people to become part of something truly special.

What does CSG mean to your family? CSG has become part of who we are. My daughters have thrived here, both academically and personally, and they wholeheartedly embrace the School and its community. When I jokingly ask if they would ever want to return to their previous school, the answer is always an emphatic “Absolutely not.” That says everything. The growth, confidence, and opportunities they have found at CSG demonstrate the lasting impact of this community, and we will proudly consider ourselves Unicorns for life.
