BTS ‘Jimmy Fallon’ed America, Or The World BTS Stars in America’s Most Famous Shows to Promote Their New Album
I
n an effort to promote their new album Map of the Soul: 7, BTS is truly making high-profile and highly-anticipated appearance on some of the biggest and most popular TV shows in the United States. Perhaps you might have already seen the video clip on the YouTube, but BTS starred in programs including the Today Show, The Late Late Show with James Corden and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which turned out to be their most impressive showing yet, at least when it comes to social chatter. The most discussed and talked about is of course the Jimmy Fallon show. Clearly, it is not everybody who gets an entire hour of “The Tonight show” dedicated just to them. The group took over the Monday, February 24 episode, playing games with Fallon, answering his questions and those sent in by fans while on the NYC subway, and even performing their new single “On” in a totally empty Grand Central. Fallon called their Grand Central takeover a “historic performance” of their song “On.” Fans loved watching this scene, and they took to social media to tell the world what they thought. According to data shared by Nielsen, the BTS episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earned 4.2 million total interactions across
the three most popular social channels, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. That hefty sum is enough to make that one showing the most social episode of any entertainment program for the year to the date across all dayparts and genres. ing BTS ended up being a huge win for all involved on social platforms, as all the ingredients were there for a massive success. The group’s other segments from the show, which included serving up BTS-made sandwiches and a subway car interview, had another 12.1 million combined hits on the Tonight Show’s
account. Moreover, BTS also recently broke for the most weeks spent at No.1 on Billboard’s Social 50, which ranks the most popular artists on sites like Facebook and Twitter, among others. They have now ruled for over three years, and they are not about to step down anytime soon. By Rachel Y Cho

In the United States, 90% of the population over the age of 25 has a high school diploma and 34% have a Bachelor’s degree. The national education budget last year was around $1.3 trillion, the majority of which came from state and local governments. America spends more on education on any other country in the world. Education in the U.S. includes public schools, private schools, and approved homeschooling. State government set education standards. Depending on the state, education is compulsory over an age range starting between 5 and 8 up until between ages 16 and 18. Additionally states typically mandate standardized exams for K-12 public school systems. At present, education varies between all 50 states in both ‘quality of education’ and ‘educational attainment.’ With Bureau of Labor Statistics showing a correlation between higher education levels, higher income and lower unem-
ployment rates, a new report by personal finance website WalletHub ranked Colorado the 3rd most educated state in

America. Only Massachusetts and Maryland ranked higher. Massachusetts was the most educated
state in the U.S. with both educational attainment and quality of education ranked the 1st. Home to MIT, Harvard, and other top schools, Massachusetts has the highest percentage of Bachelor’s degree holders at 42.1% of adults and graduate or professional degree holders at about 32.4%. Massachusetts also has the highest average university quality. It’s residents’ high levels of education allows them to perform in high-paying jobs, resulting in the state having one of the highest median household incomes in the country. Colorado jumped from 5th to 3rd this year. Colorado is especially ranked first in percent of Associate’s Degree holders and gender gap in educational attainment. The state ranks second in Bachelor’s Degree holders. Colorado also has the 8th most adults with graduate or professional degree holders. The state ranks 14th for adults with High School diplomas. Rest of the rankings were Vermont for 4th, Connecticut for 5th, Virginia for 6th, Washington for 7th, New Hampshire for 8th, New Jersey for 9th, and finally, Minnesota for 10th ranking. North Korea Launches 2 Missiles on March 2, 2020 KST North Korea has previously fired missiles capable of reaching the entire US mainland and has carried out six nuclear tests, the last of them 16 times more powerful than the Hiroshima blast.
The South Korean military reported on Monday that North Korea launched two unidentified projectiles off its east coast. This is possibly the country’s first weapons test since Nov. 28. The projectiles were launched near Wonsan, a port
town east of Pyongyang, the capital city. Kim Jong-un told a meeting at the end of December that his country is no longer bound by its self-imposed suspension of testing nuclear weapons and long-range ballistic missiles. Despite

his threats of a “Christmas present” to Trump, there had been no news of weapon testing. North Korea has closed its borders since late January due to a national campaign for coronavirus protection. It has not reported any cases of the virus. Mr. Kim has also been staying outside of public view. On Friday, he appeared to resume public activities, inspecting a drill of the North Korean People’s Army, according to the state-run media. On that same Friday, Mr. Kim also fired one of his closest aides for corruption during a meeting of the Political Bureau of his Workers’ Party. The meeting focused on “enforcing top-class anti-epidemic measures to contain the viral epidemic spreading rapidly across the world.” Mr. Kim criticized senior officials of the Party’s Central Committee for “abuse of power, practices of privileges, indulgence in bureaucracy, corruption and irregularities.” Ri Man-gon and Pak Thae-dok were dismissed from
their posts as vice-chairmen of the Central Committee, it said. Mr. Ri was one of the most prominent North Korean officials to fall out of Mr. Kim’s favor in recent years. As vice-chairman of the Central Committee, Mr. Ri has helped Mr. Kim in matters of “organization and guidance,” monitoring the loyalty of the party elites and helping Mr. Kim decide whom to promote or demote. Mr. Ri has also led the party’s powerful Department of Organization and Guidance, which does the same work. The North’s latest launch hit South Korea during a difficult time. South Korea reported 476 new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday morning, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 4,212 compared to the 603 cases it had just one week ago. Your property tax revenue supports public schools, county governments, special districts, municipal governments, and junior colleges. All of the revenue generated by property taxes stays within your county. I believe our property tax rate is the 4th lowest in the nation. However, would you still like it to be lower? Well, you are in luck! In Colorado, you can lower your tax by challenging the county assessor’s office property valuation. You do have the burden of proof to show the county assessor that the assessed value is too high and needs to be adjusted. I am sure that most of you have already received a letter or postcard from your county assessor’s office with your property tax valuation. Many of you probably have your current loan servicing company paying this on your behalf, thus, you may not have paid a lot
of attention to it. However, in some cases, paying a little attention could potentially save you hundreds or thousands in your annual tax bill. Let’s look at this process: 1) You receive your Real Property Valuation in the Mail. 2) You disagree with the Valuation. 3) You present your oral or written objections to the assessor before June 1st. 4) The assessor must make a decision on your protest and mail a Notice of
Determination to you by the last regular working day in June for real property. (It may be wise to ask your REALTOR for help. I know many REALTORs who regularly help their clients with this for no cost and provide sold homes that are similar to your home to contest the valuation set by your county assessor). 5) The assessor may or may not agree to lower the valuation. 6) If you are dissatisfied with the assessor’s decision, you may appeal to the county board of equalization by July
15. The county board conducts hearings through August 5. If the county has opted for the extended appeal period, you must appeal to the county board by September 15. Under this option, the county board conducts hearings through November 1. 7) The county board must notify you in writing within five business days of the date of its decision. If you are dissatisfied with the county board’s decision, you may appeal to an arbitrator, district court, or the Board of Assessment Appeals within 30 days of the date the decision was mailed. Also, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and members of the National Guard and Reserves who are called into active military service may be eligible for state tax relief programs. Meme Culture and its Significance in Teens

ids are constantly on their phones. Back in the late 1960s, the first internet prototype, ARPANET, was made. It was the first workable model for what is now the large expanse of the internet. Since then, the internet usage has exploded, especially among teens and Gen X. This demographic has brought some interesting things to the table such as social media platforms, prank videos, and streaming. But, the one thing that has shaped the internet and influenced many projects to come is the creation of memes. Memes are humorous images, texts, videos, etc. that have gone viral and spread rapidly by internet users. Most of these are made and popularized by teens. So, why are funny pictures so important to pop-culture, and just the internet in general? Meme culture is a keystone of everyday life for teens. Memes are usually about serious current events that are used humorously. Back in January, when rumors of WW3 were breaking out and people across the globe were worrying about this potential threat, what did teens do? They made memes about
it. Teens were making jokes about the fact that we were prepared for the war because of video games, like Fortnite and Call of Duty. Memes are being made even right now, about the recent Coronavirus, which has killed hundreds of people. In a way, memes are a coping mechanism. When everything seems like it’s going downhill and serious issues are constantly shoved in their faces, memes are a fun way to cope for teens. In reality, to some, it is just a funny way to cope with serious issues without putting any deep meanings behind them. So, when people try to deeply analyze them it just
looks like a desperate, ineffective attempt to psychoanalyze the teenage mind. But, in reverse, what issues can memes bring? Memes can spread a lot of misinformation around about topics and can lead to many misunderstandings. They can also be highly offensive. Yes, teens around the world know that memes are not to be taken literally, but sometimes they can go too far. Especially, with racesensitive topics like the Coronavirus. Memes can become a leeway for people to be racist and claim that it was a joke. Some might say it is silly to get worked up over a joke, since jokes about race
have been made countless times over the century by comedians and celebrities. However, you cannot ignore the fact that sometimes, things go too far. Many individuals find some memes horribly offensive and even very hurtful, which creates a negative impact on the internet. It seems that this generation has been so thoroughly soaked with irony and cold humor to the point where they cannot draw the line between humorous and offensive material. So, what is there to be said about meme culture besides the fact that it contains highly offensive content that virtually mean nothing? Well, nothing else really, meme culture is so embedded into teen culture that it seems like you can’t have one without the other. It’s important though that teens and adults keep this in mind, there is always a time and place with everything, especially with humor. It is always important to keep in mind that everything is viewed differently by each set of eyes and not to put too much meaning behind everything. World’s Largest Physics Conference Canceled Due to Recent Coronavirus Outbreaks COVID-19 Cancels the APS March Meeting to be Held in Denver, CO The American Physical Society (APS) canceled the world’s biggest physics conference, which was to take place in Denver, Colorado, from March 2nd to March 3rd. The APS was founded in 1899 and is the world’s biggest organization of physicists. The annual March meeting is one of the highlights in the physics calendar, attended by thousands of physicists in areas such as condensed matter, materials, atomic physics and quantum physics. The APS decided to cancel the meeting two days before its scheduled start due to “rapidly escalating health concerns relating to the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)”. The APS said it took the decision “with deep regret” and “significantly inconvenienced” many delegates. The delegates will be fully refunded for registration fees, and the society is looking into refunding hotel expenses. The APS March meeting is normally attended by some 10,000 physicists from around the globe. Previous statements from the APS said the meeting would be conducted with a “nohandshake” policy and follow other health advice and tips.
However, the APS canceled the meeting “based on the latest scientific data being reported” about the spread of COVID-19. Many attendees come to the APS March meeting from outside the US, “including countries where the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CPC) upgraded its warning to level 3″. These countries include China, Iran, Italy, and South Korea. Due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases, there is a large wave of concern within the public. The World Health Organization (WHO) updated its local and global risk assessments from High to Very High. Within one week, COVID-19 cases confirmed outside of China went from 1,769 cases to 7,169
cases. Deaths caused by COVID-19 confirmed outside of China went from 17 deaths to 104 deaths. Concern resulting from the recent spread of COVID-19 is appropriate. However, Colorado's Department of Public Health & Environment confirmed no cases of COVID-19 in Colorado, as of February 26th. Coloradans are at low risk of becoming infected by COVID-19. Anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 with a recent travel history in any of the countries with rising cases should call a physician before going to a hospital in person.
