A $1 fee increase aimed at fixing Westminster’s 1,136 miles roads could be in the future, City Councilors heard April 17. Councilors said they were unsure, however, and want more information. “I’d like to fully understand what we need to do to fund and what we need to do to cut,” said City Councilor Lindsey Emmons. She said she isn’t against increasing the fee, but would like to see if it’s possible to fund the roadways with funds the city already has. Brock Hufford, Pavement Management Coordinator, presented a potential increase of $1 per month to roadway fees on residential homes for roadway management at the April 17 study session meeting. However, the council sent him and his team back to the drawing board. Agreeing with Councilor Emmons, Councilor Bruce Baker agreed and said he would rather fund the improvements with taxes.
