Northglenn’s Fusion Swim Club is resurfacing after a six-month hiatus to provide competitive aquatics training to ages 5-18 and post-grads. The return of the USA Swim Club is being led by the recently hired Jim Sharp, who has more than 50 years of experience in coaching and teaching young swimmers, said Justin Perdue, recreation manager for the City of Northglenn. “He is a true pro at what he does,” Perdue said. “Jim comes here after a nine-month search, and we are lucking to have him.” The swim club was put on hold in February because of dwindling participation, Perdue said. The decline in young swimmers was due mostly because part-time coaches headed the program. “We really needed someone to be here full-time to give swimmers fulltime attention, “Perdue said. “Jim will now be able to fill that gap.” Sharp, a retired high school swim coach from Lafayette, Indiana, is a distinguished member of the American Swimming Coaches Association Level 4, USA Swimming and the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association, according to a news release.
