The good news? The 11% price bump represents a notably smaller increase than Colorado had endured each month over the past year, according to a report by the Colorado Association of Realtors. The jump in the supply of available homes means buyers now have a better chance of purchasing a house, but prices in metro Denver and Colorado
Westminster named Mark Freitag as the city’s next city manager on Aug. 8. In all, 33 people initially applied and the city used an executive search firm to conduct the national search. Freitag was interviewed three times by the firm, by councilors twice, participated in community and staff forums as Freitag well as a panel with the city’s executive leadership team. The final three candidates included Freitag, Interim City Manager Jody Andrews and Jennifer Phillips. Andrews stepped up to the city manager interim role in October 2021 when Donald Tripp resigned after six years on the job and nine years with the city. Before being hired as City Manager in 2015, Tripp served as director of the city’s Parks, Recreation and Libraries. Now, Freitag will take the reins. He hails from Janesville, Wisconsin where he has been the City Manager since 2013. He served as a Colonel for the U.S. Army and directed operations and logistics for a staff of 400, annual operating budget of $170 million, 12,000 soldiers and 25,000 family members in Fort Wainwright,

From June 2021 to June this year, the number of active listings for single-family homes in the Denver
metro area jumped up by about 52%. Statewide, the number saw about a 43% uptick. But despite the larger pool of options, home prices continue to climb. The median sales price rose 11% statewide in that same time, and it increased by about 11% in the Denver metro area, where the median sales price sat at a staggering $647,500 as of June.
