The band Crystal Visions played Fleetwood Mac classics as the sun went down at Lakewood’s Rockin Block Party on June 1. Behind the PHOTO BY JO DAVIS band was the giant screen waiting to be inflated for the Jaws movie that evening. People danced as the band played.

The summer season in Jeffco has been ushered in by block parties in Wheat Ridge and Lakewood. Lakewood’s June 1 “Rockin Block Party” featured music by Crystal Visions and The Bad Co. Foothill Credit Union and WestFax Brewing Company and local food trucks served snacks to the crowds. Around 9 p.m., the 1975 summer classic “Jaws” played on an inflated oversized screen. Other partners with the city of Lakewood for the event include FedEx, Mix 100, Muller Engineering Company, Tedford Commercial Real Estate and the patrons of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District. The goal of both was to get the community outside and enjoy each other. However, the Wheat Ridge Block Party had an added small business element as well. SEE BLOCK PARTY, P10
