The City of Lakewood recently celebrated Arbor Day with a treeplanting event in Lasley Park with Lasley Elementary School fourth
graders. The city also received the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA Growth Award for its “higher levels of tree care and community engagement” work regarding the tree canopy. In recognition of these accom-
plishments, Mayor Wendi Strom joined the students and staff members to speak about the importance of a diverse urban tree canopy in Lakewood.
