For years, local governments and other public entities have been building the Peaks to Plains Trail, a path for pedestrians and cyclists from the Continental Divide to the Platte River. Now, not only is the name changing, but the route through Golden may change too. According to Matt Wempe, principal planner for the City of Golden, the 65-mile trail is being rebranded as the Clear Creek Trail. Signage will be changed in the coming months, he said. (Editor’s note: For clarity, this article will continue to call it the Peaks to Plains Trail to differentiate it from the City of Golden’s trail along both sides of Clear Creek between Parfet Park and U.S. Highway 6, which is also
