If the City of Golden follows its current timeline, it would break ground on its new municipal center around this time next year. However, it’s already hit a twoweek delay as the City Council voted July 9 to table a contract with Denver-based Handprint Architecture for comprehensive architectural and design services. The councilors said they would use the two weeks to meet with local petitioners who are concerned about the project’s proposed funding mechanisms. The Heart of Golden project includes building a new City Hall and police department at the former Molson Coors property at 311 10th St. This would provide city employees much-needed space and high-quality facilities, SEE DELAY, P4
