For anyone who purchased early tickets to the 2023 Summer Jam or bought a few rounds of beer at Wild West Oktoberfest, that money is now supporting three dozen Goldenbased nonprofits, schools and other causes. On May 14, the Golden Civic Foundation hosted its Community Grants Breakfast at The Buffalo Rose, where it officially awarded $111,250 in total grant dollars to 36 recipient agencies. The dollars will go toward everything from Golden’s food banks and local festivals to new school band equipment and prizes for summer reading programs. Along with regular donations and sponsorships, Executive Director Kim Mangle said GCF raised most of the funds at last year’s two main fundraisers — Summer Jam and Wild West Oktoberfest. In its 54-year history, the foundation has raised and invested about $19 million in local organizations and causes, she added. SEE AWARDS, P2
