Golden High School students produce original plays at inaugural 24-hour event NEW ENTREPRENEURSHIP HUB P2

BY CORINNE WESTEMAN CWESTEMAN@COLORADOCOMMUNITYMEDIA.COM

Whether it was developing a songand-dance routine for a piece of cheese or crafting one-liners straight out of a 1980s action comedy, there’s no denying Golden High School students have creativity in spades. Over April 5-6, GHS hosted its inaugural 24-Hour Play Festival, where 25 young thespians wrote and produced original plays. They showcased the six final products April 6 in the school cafeteria, to an eager crowd of 100-some family members and classmates. Several of the participants and theater teacher Allie Matsuo thought the event was an overall success, and hoped to do it again next year. Matsuo said Golden’s thespian troupe, called Stage Right Productions, had the idea to host the 24-Hour Play Festival after the alumni directing team learned about the concept at last year’s International Thespian Festival.
