Making the world a better place starts with having difficult conversations. Last winter, the Transcript released a 5,000-word report examining its past coverage of the Black community and how that coverage, or lack thereof, contributed to systemic racism. “For the Record” looked at the Transcript’s reprinted stories about the Black Panther Party as one example of a larger problem, reflecting on how the Transcript failed to cover the local Black community in a meaningful way.
