For two weeks, a group of Colorado School of Mines students have been biking non-stop. But, instead of a destination, they’re biking toward a dollar amount. The Mines chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity kicked off its eighth annual Wheel to Heal bike-a-thon March 4. At least one member has been pedaling a stationary bike continuously outside the Student Recreation Center’s east entrance to fundraise for the Colon Cancer Foundation. With every $10 donation adding another hour to the clock, ATO members raised enough money in the first few days to extend the bike-a-thon to the last possible minute — 4 p.m. on March 15. Not only does this support a cause close to their hearts, but it also gives their members as many opportunities as possible to pick up bike-athon shifts, they described. SEE WHEELING, P2
