With all the necessary parties signed off, implementing overnight closures along Lookout Mountain Road is now a question of “when.” During a Feb. 27 staff briefing with Jefferson County Open Space representatives, the county commissioners gave their go-ahead. The Sheriff ’s Office also supports the plan. Open Space officials have described how the decision ultimately lies with their agency, as the road goes across parklands. However, because it’s such an important issue, Open Space Director Tom Hoby said he wanted to have the sheriff and commissioners’ consent before proceeding. “It’s a really big deal,” Hoby told the commissioners. “ … We don’t want to make that decision alone.” SEE CLOSURES, P4
