The project is expected to be completed in early September — in the meantime, the city hall entrance will be used for access to the municipal court. The metal detectors were previously placed in front of the municipal court, which is located within Arvada’s City Hall. The upper parking lot, located near the courts, is also closed for construction. Arvada’s Communications Manager for Infrastructure Katie Patterson said the move will neces-
sitate all visitors to go through the X-ray screening before entry into city hall. “The X-ray machine is being moved to the main lobby entrance rather than the courtroom entrance,” Patterson said. “Because of the way the building was originally designed this requires the entrance area to be redesigned. Once complete, this will enhance security to the building entrance and require all visitors to be screened when they come into the lobby through

The Jefferson County Sheriff ’s Office continues to look for an unarmed sexual predator targeting female hikers in Flying J Ranch Park in Conifer. Anyone who was hiking in the park in the last month who saw anything unusual or suspicious should contact the sheriff ’s office at 303-2710211, according to spokeswoman Karlyn Tilley.
