Piney Wine & Spirits at 26289 County Hwy 74 in Kittredge, Colorado opened in February, 2021. But if you are thinking that this establishment is just another liquor store doing business in our foothills area, think again! Because longtime friends and Piney Wine & Spirits co-owners Danielle (Dani) and husband Ryan Rooney, Chad George, and Nathan Turk all share a taste for the fermented juice of grapes as well as other alcoholic products, together they perceived a need for a quality bottle shop in the foothills. They all agreed that Kittredge was the perfect location for such a business venture. Consequently, the new business was aptly named Piney Wine & Spirits as a tribute to the mountains and pines of

OF THE MONTH Evergreen and surrounding communities. Dani Rooney is also the owner of Old Pine Candle Company (manufacturer of candles). Her husband Ryan has a medical field background. In addition, Chad and Nathan have garnered years of experience in the hospitality industry. However, prior to opening Piney Wine & Spirits none of the four had any retail experience selling goods or services directly to consumers or end-users. Nonetheless, the friends pooled their resources. Working together, it took them about six months to do everything they needed to do so they could open their uniquely different neighborhood bottle shop. “We see our store as more of a boutique wine &
spirits shop because we largely carry wines from wineries that focus on producing small batches of their wines,” said co-owner Dani Rooney. “We also carry the finest craft beers available, and a spirits selection featuring exceptional choices in every category.” Unlike big box stores or warehouse-type liquor operations, Piney Wine & Spirits not only offers a mix of products that fit the appetite of the local neighborhood, but also it provides personalized service and one-on-one assistance to its customers. “Chad George and I have gained experience in the hospitality industry working as bartenders at a multitude of bars and restaurants,” said co-owner Nathan Turk who stated that he and Chad are also Certified Sommeliers (wine stewards who are trained and are knowledgeable Please see PINEY, Page 2
