Angela Thomas wants debates with George Teal

“Douglas County is facing exploding growth and the challenges that brings,” Thomas said in her challenge statement. “Our county commission has responded with dysfunction and a failure to strategically address the needs of our citizens.” Teal’s campaign told the Douglas County NewsPress that Thomas had not reached out directly to Teal or his campaign about scheduling any debates. The campaign neither committed to the idea nor shot it down.
People in Parker may have noticed the construction neighboring the PACE Center downtown. Now, another project is set to begin on the other side: the expansion of the Town Hall building. It will create new spaces for visitors, like a split lobby, more conference rooms and fully-accessible restrooms. For James Taylor, principal of Anderson Mason Dale Architects, “this building as a terminus, or an end, to that public corridor through Mainstreet – the civic hub, especially connected with the new parking going to the PACE Center.” The Town Hall opened its doors in 2002, when the town’s staffing levels were less than half of what it is today. As part of her bid to unseat incumbent Douglas County Commissioner George Teal, Democrat Angela Thomas is asking for debates. She has challenged Teal to four of them, asking that they also be streamed, ahead of the November election.
