could lay out decision-making not just for the short term, but the long term.” Project Downtown’s timeline will purposefully overlap with a largescale water line project on Main Street that’s anticipated to begin in 2025, said Adrienne Burton, the senior project manager for Project Littleton. The teams hope to coordinate schedules to minimize construction impacts to businesses and property owners.
Littleton-based nonprofits Doctors Care and Love In the Name of Christ — or Love INC — each hosted back-to-school events recently, as students in the area prepare to start classes in less than a month. Doctors Care specializes in providing financially accessible healthcare for underserved patients, and hosted their first-ever Marian Jones Memorial Backpack Drive in memory of a former patient who made it a family tradition to provide backpacks to families in need. Bebe Kleinman, the CEO of Doctors Care, felt it was the right time for the inaugural event. “It felt like the right thing to do coming out of the pandemic,” she said. “Families want to get out to each other and talk to each other. The cost of inflation and the cost of school supplies just seem to weigh really heavy on the families that we serve here.” The Doctors Care drive took place outside their offices on Littleton Boulevard, where a Kona Ice truck was parked offering free shaved ice, and a professional face painter was set up for the kids. Families were able to pick up free backpacks and gift cards until supplies ran out, which did not take long, as demand for the event exceeded expectations.
