Idaho Springs locals recently gathered in the steady rain at Courtney Riley Cooper Park for a vigil honoring Idaho Springs homicide victim Paul Peavey. Attendees said they knew Peavey as a friend, some for decades, and at the gathering they shared memories and past laughs that will remain. Peavey’s body was found near Two Brothers road in Idaho Springs Aug. 24 by a group of his friends who searched his property after a missing person report was recorded Aug. 21. Suspect Sergio Ferrer is being held on first-degree murder, felony murder and aggravated robbery in connection with Peavey’s death, according to the Clear Creek Sheriff ’s office. “I’ve known Paul for 15 to 20 years, a very good friend and very sad that this happened,” longtime friend and Idaho Springs resident Regan Dwyer said.
