The new nameplate, or “flag” of the Clear Creek Courant has been chosen! At the beginning of June, we gave readers the opportunity to vote on the Courant’s FROM THE new look, and what EDITOR you see at the top of your paper is the design that received the most votes. This flag will appear at the top of the Clear Creek Courant each week going forward. Thank you to everyone who voted! These concerns were heard and taken seriously by me, CCM publisher Linda Shapley and our design team, which is why we came up with four new plate designs that incorporate the community’s history. When Ben Shay was growing up, there was a small skate park open in Idaho Springs. Still, it didn’t meet the demand of the mountain skateboarding community. That park has since closed, but the JoshSpinner- Broker, Owner Local Expert since1999
push for access to skateboarding has strengthened. After years of advocacy by area skate enthusiasts, the Idaho Springs City Council on June 26 unanimously approved the master plan that will guide the redesign of the eastern field at the Idaho Springs Sports Complex and bring a skate park to the community.
