NORTH COUNTY — A cold storm front brought predictions of snow across San Luis Obispo County last week.
While some remained skeptical, parts of North County were covered in a blanket of pure white snow. San Luis Obispo meteorologist John Lindsey had predicted scattered rains showers in the forecast starting on Wednesday, Feb. 22, with snow levels “dropping to between 1,250 and 1,750 feet in the
inland areas and 2,000 feet in the coastal regions.” Commenting on his Facebook page, Lindsey said 1988 was the last time the Cuesta Grade was closed due to snow. And to many who were around North County, that was also the last time this area saw snow of this magnitude. On the morning of Thurs-
day, Feb. 23, snow made it to residents on the Cuesta Grade, Atascadero, Paso Robles, Templeton, and the surrounding hills and mountains. This snowfall amounted to only about an inch that melted off quickly. However, come Saturday morning, residents were surprised with much more than just a dusting. Local

PASO ROBLES — The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District (PRJUSD) has issued a press release regarding its logo used on a district Board of Trustees candidate’s campaign sign. According to the press release, the district had been receiving complaints that a candidate had been using the district logo for advertisements and campaign materials. The district stated that it “did not authorize using its logo for these purposes and does not

Jason Haas of Tablas Creek Vineyard, Bob Lindquist of Lindquist Family Wines, Maggie Tillman of Alta Colina Vineyard and Winery, Jeremy Weintraub of Adelaida Vineyards and Winery, Tony
Quealy of Thacher Winery, Craig Camp of Troon Vineyard, and Cris Cherry of Villa Creek Vineyard were just some of the notable names present at the event. The 500 enthusiastic attendees were thrilled to be part of the celebration and to taste some of the best Rhône-style wines in the country, despite the rainy
weather that day. As the sun occasionally shone through the clouds at the Paso Robles Event Center, they eagerly made their way to the seminar to learn about the “Rhône Essentials.” The seminar was hosted by an esteemed panel of winemakers, who shared their knowledge and experience of making Rhône-style wines. The guests
were eager to learn from these experts, gaining insight into the complexities of these wines and the passion that goes into producing them. After the seminar, the guests enjoyed the Vintner’s Luncheon, where they were treated to a sumptuous meal paired with Rhône-style wines. The wine-

PASO ROBLES — Twenty staff members were recognized for their over 30 years of work with the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District (PRJUSD) at the board meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Staff members recognized were: Jeanine Romero, Jon Scribner, Nancy Scott, Virginia Taylor, Richard Schimke, Barbara Canepa, Debra Bean, Natalee Johnson, Clark Kerr, Terri Pearl, Sean Pierce, Katerena Linfield, Nancy Mayer, Breata Yarborough, Jennifer Bell, Kristen Ring, Katherine Gamberutti, Jolene Martin, Nicole Delbar, and Michelle Keil. After discussions with local parents and staff, Trustee
Laurene McCoy requested the board to reconsider Georgia Brown Elementary School moving back to the 36th Street campus. In February 2022, trustees approved the following plan regarding the Glen Speck and Georgia Brown campuses: Glen Speck staff and students will move to the new Glen Speck campus on 17th Street as soon as completed next Fall. At that time, Georgia Brown staff and students will move to the temporary site on 36th Street, where they will stay while the 36th Street campus is renovated to accommodate about 400 students. This will become the new Glen Speck Elementary site when that construction is complete, and Georgia Brown will move to the 17th Street site. In the end, they will have two new schools on the west side. The attendance boundaries for Glen Speck will be all of the district west of 101, CONTINUED ON PAGE A11
