Templeton football preparing for CIF title tilt

TEMPLETON — The Templeton High football field will be a veritable Eagles nest on Friday night, Nov. 28, as the school’s football squad will compete for a CIF Central Section title, facing Immanuel High of Reedley, also known as the

Eagles, at 7 p.m. While most folks will be picking through Thanksgiving leftovers and getting a head start on holiday shopping on Black Friday, players, coaches, parents, and fans of the Templeton High football team will be getting ready for the Division IV championship game, the first CIF title contest in school history, according to readily available records. The contest is set up as an epic showdown: Templeton is the top seed of the division, while Immanuel is No. 2, and both squads boast 12-0 records going into the game.

The Eagles have stayed undefeated with two playoff wins (after a first-round bye), and will again enjoy playing in front of a home crowd for the section final. Head coach Don Crow’s Eagles made it to the title game after dominating North High of Bakersfield 41-0 in the semifinals on Nov. 21, avenging a 30-13 loss to the Stars in last year’s CIF playoffs. Tyler Cunningham continued to lead Templeton’s ground game against North, rushing for 136 yards on 18 carries and an 82-yard run on the Eagles’ first series of the game. PASO ROBLES — Paso Robles honored its historic connection to Ignacy Jan Paderewski earlier this month, marking both the world-renowned pianist’s 165th birthday and the 20th anniversary of the modern Paderewski Festival. The four-day celebration brought packed performances, youth showcases, and community gatherings that organizers said reflected a strong

post-pandemic resurgence. Festival Board President Marjorie Hamon said this year felt especially meaningful. “I’m honored to be able to be the president of this festival. I have the hardest working board that I’ve ever been involvedon,” she told Atascadero News. “I’m honored and I think being the 20th year, it was a very successful year for us. It’s been a tough haul coming back from COVID.” Festivities opened Thursday afternoon, Nov. 6, at the Paderewski monument in Paso Robles City Park, where the Paso Robles High School marching ensemble performed in celebration of Paderewski’s
