It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2026 Queensland State Pipe Band Championships at Brisbane Boys’ College.

The Tartan Spectacular has become a highlight of the Pipe Band calendar, bringing together talented musicians, dancers and supporters from across Queensland and beyond to celebrate the rich traditions of Scottish culture. We are proud to once again host this prestigious event and to share in a day of competition, performance and community spirit.

Woven into the fabric of Brisbane Boys’ College is a proud Scottish heritage, reflected in our Ancient Hunting MacLean Tartan and brought to life through the enduring traditions of our Pipe Band. For generations, the sound of the pipes and drums has echoed across our campus, serving as a reminder of the values of dedication, discipline and excellence that continue to shape our community. Earlier this year, our students had the honour of performing as part of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a significant milestone for the College and a wonderful opportunity to showcase their talents on an international stage.

I would also like to acknowledge our Director of Pipe Band, Steven Stanley, whose leadership, passion and commitment continue to enrich our Pipe Band program and create exceptional opportunities for our students. His contribution, together with the efforts of staff, volunteers and supporters, helps ensure that these traditions continue to thrive for future generations.

Events such as these showcase not only remarkable musical talent, but also the friendships, camaraderie and sense of belonging that are at the heart of the Pipe Band community. I congratulate all competitors on the commitment, discipline and countless hours of preparation that have brought you here today, and I wish you every success in your performances.
