A few updates on ACD National….as you know, this Spring Mike Graham was introduced as the new Executive Director of the ACD. It has been a pleasure to get to know Mike and work with him thus far. The College is in good hands with Mike!

The Ethics Handbook has been revised and can be downloaded from ACD National’s website. Print copies can also be requested from National. Eight new “Core Values” are introduced in this updated edition: Accountability, Competence, Dignity, Collaboration, Advocacy, Reflection, Empathy & Stewardship. They form the pneumonic “ACD CARES.” A reference to the Handbook is included in this newsletter. In response to Feedback from Fellows, the Nomination Forms have been revised with the goal of creating as seamless a nomination process as possible. There is now one single Nomination form. A reference to the new form is also included in this Newsletter. Please keep in mind Nominations can be sent in year-round. So, if you come across a Colleague you would like to nominate, you can do so at any time!

On September 12th-13th there will be an Ethics Summit in Rockville, Maryland for Fellows, please keep a watch out for more information about this in the coming months. The Summit will focus on the subject of Breaking Down the Silos: Dentistry’s Ethical Responsibility as a Partner in Healthcare. I encourage all of you to attend the annual ACD meeting this fall in New Orleans from October 16th-17th. The focus this year will be on Leadership and a wonderful program is being developed. Rooms are going fast so please be sure to sign up soon if you are interested in attending. Please feel free to reach out with any ACD related questions or concerns.
