Winter has a way of sharpening everything. The air feels cleaner. Sounds carry farther. Mornings arrive slower, while evenings show off such clear moon views. There’s a solitude that allows us to focus this time of year under a lot of layers. This season marks the opening of one new office —Chicago, IL – and focused search on a new office destination – Long Island, NY. Expanding our footprint to lay down roots in places where our work has been taking shape for years. Alongside that growth, we’re welcoming two new teams: Fiesta, supporting our NYC site efforts, and Valencia, leading survey work across the Midwest. New cities, new teams, same shared vision. In this issue, we’re spotlighting 7 Brew Coffee, a brand moving at full speed nationwide and one we’re proud to support across multiple regions. You’ll also find our latest Where in the World feature, taking you to a seemingly familiar, but not what you think city that might feel especially fitting for this time of year. We’re also looking back at 2025 in the Stonefield Wrapped section, reflecting on the milestones and collective effort that defined the past year. And because winter isn’t all work, we’re revisiting highlights from our Mont Tremblant ski trip, where cold air, fresh snow, and good company reminded us why stepping away matters just as much as showing up

NEW OFFICES

Steel and stone, lake wind cutting through the streets, and a skyline that feels built on conviction. Our newest office lands in a city that knows how to work— early mornings, late nights, and a deep respect for craft. Chicago brings big-idea energy with a no-nonsense backbone: elevated trains rattling overhead, boots crunching on salt-dusted sidewalks, coffee poured strong enough to stand up on its own. It’s a place where momentum is earned, not announced—and where Stonefield feels right at home. Midwest reach, city grit, and a new hub for collaboration, planted right where it belongs.
NEXT STOP: Long Island, New York
No exact pin on the map yet (but good chance we’ll be on that Hempstead line above)—but that’s part of the fun. Somewhere between shoreline calm and commuter-speed ambition, our Long Island office will bridge city energy and coastal breathing room. Think early train rides, late-site walks, and a little salt in the air. It’s not about one town—it’s about connection. To projects, to people, and to the stretch of New York that keeps everything moving. Two new offices. Two new chapters. More ground covered, more voices at the table, and the same Stonefield mission—just with a little more mileage.
WHERE IN THE WORLD
WRAPPED IN IVY, LOADED WITH HISTORY.
Just on the other side of town from one of our offices, this park sits quietly, inviting passersby to pause without revealing the complexity hidden within its walls. At first glance, it’s just grass, pleasant landscaping, brick walls, and the occasional bench – but look closer, and you’ll discover a place that houses a century’s worth of rich history and careful engineering.
The surrounding walls were never meant to move, so a hundred years of change had to work within them. That includes installing a state-of-the-art drainage system, reconstruction of the wall foundations, and – surprise! – constructing a sophisticated subterranean building hidden underneath its surface. As we Stonefielders can relate, this site is much more than meets the non-engineer’s eye. Today, this park remains a neighborhood hub, hosting concerts, gatherings, and even the occasional ball game. All of it is quietly supported by engineering solutions most visitors never notice. It’s a great reminder that the best engineering often works behind the scenes, letting everyone enjoy the surface without ever thinking about what’s below.

2025 was a year defined by momentum—measured not just in growth, but in consistency, collaboration, and showing up where it mattered most. Over the past year, Stonefield teams worked on 2,382 active projects, while launching 1,347 new ones across numerous markets and disciplines. From some of our largest, most complex efforts to the everyday wins that keep projects moving forward, the volume reflects a year of sustained focus and trust. That fruits of our labor are powered by the people. We welcomed 28 new employees to the Stonefield team and celebrated the birth of 7 baby Stonefielders, marking milestones both professional and personal. Growth, in every sense.
Behind the scenes—and often at the podium—our teams remained deeply engaged in the hearing process. In 2025, Stonefield members attended 1,037 hearings, gave testimony 635 times, and helped secure 398 project approvals, reinforcing our role as steady advocates for our clients and their communities. We also made time to come together. From Bingo Loco and the Project Stonefield Film Festival to ski trips, beach days, and team events, these moments reminded us that culture is built as much outside the office as inside it. As we look ahead, with new offices opening in Asbury Park, Tampa, Long Island, and Chicago, the foundation is set. Same drive—just more ground to cover.

CIVIL 3D IS THE FUTURE
Over the past several months, a dedicated group within Stonefield has been quietly laying the groundwork for a major step forward in how we design, collaborate, and deliver projects. The Mission Civil 3D Team has been leading an effort to modernize our CAD standards—fully integrating Civil 3D while preserving the flexibility and consistency we’re used to.
As our firm continues to grow, so does the complexity of our work and the expectations of our clients. Modernized technical standards allow us to work smarter, reduce setup time, and focus more energy on engineering rather than file management.
The updated standards support both traditional 2D drafting and Civil 3D–based projects, giving teams the flexibility to use the right tools for the job while encouraging broader adoption of Civil 3D where it adds value. Model, plot, and exhibit files have been refined with clearer naming conventions, improved plan organization, and better integration of Civil 3D features. Labeling workflows have also been streamlined to improve coordination and consistency across sheets.
All updated templates now live in a single, centralized CAD Resources location, ensuring everyone is working from the most current files. Just as important, this is a living system—designed to evolve through feedback, collaboration, and lessons learned from real projects.
