Welcome to

A storied 88 years of diverse, individualized, quality education in Bogotá, Colombia

The Story of

Colegio Nueva Granada reflects one of continual innovation and progressive thinking since our founding in 1938 by a group of visionary people who created the first educational institution of its kind in Colombia – a coeducational, non-sectarian, multicultural, dual-program school (Colombian Bachillerato and U.S. H.S. Diploma). CNG provides its 1,680 students with an engaging and caring learning environment committed to a personalized educational experience through a comprehensive K4-12 program. We promote high performance through a holistic, differentiated curriculum using research-based teaching methodologies, innovative learning frameworks and technologies, and strong partnerships between teachers, students, and parents. As a welcoming community that honors and celebrates diversity in all forms, the school program places strong emphasis on valuing the unique talents and abilities of every student as well as nurturing social-emotional well-being and developing character. CNG promotes academic success through a full range of programs, including intensive learning-support services, gifted & talented programs, and a breadth of Advanced Placement and Honors courses. CNG also offers a broad variety of service learning opportunities with, amongst others, our sister school Hogar Nueva Granada and through yearly experiential learning opportunities in Colombia. CNG also provides an extensive range of after-school activities, clubs and organizations, and competitive sports in a 27-school athletic and activities league.

what WE OFFER: Academics The academic program at CNG provides a robust, college-preparatory curriculum based on the most rigorous standards from the United States and Colombia. CNG groups its programs across four building levels: Primary (K4-2nd grades), Elementary (3rd-5th grades), Middle School (6th-8th grades) and High School (9th12th grades). Our educators and staff strongly support the school’s philosophy that all children can achieve their highest individual potential for excellence across in their academic and personal goals. We make it a priority to ensure that every student finds support for an individualized learning journey by providing high quality programs to all types of learners and incorporating research and best practices to impart differentiated instruction. Our assessment system uses a 4-point scale and follows the standards-based grading approach, whereby students performance is enhanced by the feedback they receive.

Exceptional Learner Programs CNG has distinguished itself among international schools by offering one of the most comprehensive, inclusive, and highly regarded learning-support programs in the world. On an annual basis, over 200 students receive some type of learning support from mild to moderate to even intensive. Our school also offers gifted-and-talented programs from Elementary through High School with over 250 students identified as top performers through standardized testing. Students can select from among 30 different Advanced Placement courses with Honors programs available from Grades 3-12. All CNG programs incorporate design thinking and project-based learning, standards-based assessment and reporting, and a scaffolded curricular program.

Innovation Innovation Learning at CNG is a dynamic, evidenceinformed approach to teaching and learning designed to help every student achieve their individual potential for excellence and thrive and lead in a future of unknown possibilities. Our approach is grounded in two interconnected pillars:

Developing the whole learner. Academic knowledge is essential, but not sufficient on its own. At CNG, non-academic competencies are intentionally taught, practiced, and assessed alongside academic content. Through our Learner Profile and Mind–Body–Character approach, students develop the skills, dispositions, and character to apply their learning, navigate complexity, collaborate, adapt, and contribute meaningfully.

Applying the science of learning. Our written, taught, and assessed curriculum is guided by evidence about how students learn most effectively. We use the science of learning and evidence-informed practices to create engaging, appropriately challenging, and supportive experiences, using evidence of student learning to refine instruction, remove barriers, and support individual growth.

Together, these pillars define innovation at CNG: expanding what students need to learn while continually strengthening how they learn it, so every student can achieve their unique potential for excellence.

what WE OFFER: Co-curricular Program CWW CNG is committed to providing experiential learning through Classroom Without Walls (CWW), a K4-12 outdoor learning program intended to expand our curriculum beyond the classroom. CWW provides a space for cultural, social and leadership learning opportunities in the most prominent ecological and historical destinations in Colombia, allowing students and teachers to work with and learn from local communities.

Sports & Co-Curricular Activities Colegio Nueva Granada provides its students with a wide range of afterschool activities, clubs, organizations and competitive sports. CNG is part of a 27-school athletic and activities league. CNG also provides students of all grades exciting opportunities to learn and develop interest outside the classroom through our Condor Activities Program. Areas of focus include performing and visual arts, physical education, science, technology and more. With over 25 different classes taught by over 60 experienced instructors, we strive to provide cocurricular activities for all students and their varied interests.

Service Learning The school also provides engaging co-curricular activities and fosters social service learning activities throughout Colombia and in our very own foundation school located on campus, the Fundación Colegio Nueva Granada which serves 375 highly disadvantaged students and families from surrounding neighborhoods. Interaction between CNG and Foundation students occurs across the grade levels as part of our mission to develop responsible global citizens. All CNG community service programs are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the form of project based learning.
