GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS Colegio Nueva Granada is a private, co-educational day school founded in 1938 to provide students (K4 - 12) with a U.S.oriented, college-preparatory education. CNG is accredited by Cognia/AdvancED and the Colombian Ministry of Education. The school year begins in August and ends in June, this year’s enrollment was 1668. The student body is international consisting of 44% Colombian, 17% U.S., 16% dual (U.S.-Colombian), 14% dual (Other-Colombian) and 9% from other countries. There are a total of 46 nationalities at CNG. All classes are taught in English except Colombian social studies, Spanish, French, and Mandarin. The average class size in high school is 11, and the maximum class size is 23 by policy. CNG does not provide class rank. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT BODY Currently, there are 424 students enrolled in the high school, grades 9-12. The Senior class number is 115, the Junior class 106, the Sophomore class 103, and the Freshman class 100. Both the U.S. High School and the Colombian Bachillerato program of study are offered. All students graduate with the U.S. High School diploma. Additionally, eighty two percent (82%) of the Class of 2021 received a Colombian Bachillerato diploma. CURRICULUM Courses at CNG are college preparatory. CNG consistently places in the highest category, A+, on the ICFES SABER 11 exam, the Colombian national exit examination. We offer 27 Formal Advanced Placement courses, including 2 AP online courses and 4 PreAP courses. Seniors are required to take at least 1 AP, but the maximum number depends on the schedule and acceptance by the AP teacher. AP subjects include English Language & Composition, English Literature, Seminar, Research, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, AP Physics 1, Physics C, Comparative Government, Human Geography, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Psychology, U.S. History, AP European History, World History, Art History, Studio Art 2D, Studio Art 3D, Studio Art Drawing & Painting, French Language, Spanish Language, Spanish Literature, online Music Theory, and online Physics 2.
