PREFACIO

Este folleto presenta las series más importantes del estudio Balanza de Pagos de Puerto Rico. Es el primero, después de la publicación del libro Balanza de Pagos, Puerto Rico 1911.2-1961, que presenta cuadros estadísticos más detallados y completos de los diferentes pagos y de las transacciones financieras con el resto del mundo. Incluye cifras revisadas para las series que se publicaron en los dos folletos anteriores y para algunas de las partidas que se publicaron en el libro mencionado anteriormente. Los cuadros estadísticos que se presentan comienzan desde el año 1958 debido a que casi todas las estimaciones se revisaron a partir de ese año. Las series que se publican se consideran finales hasta el 1963, sem7finales para el 19611. y preliminares para el 1965. En esta publicación se incorporan por primera vez cuadros estadísticos con información detallada sobre la posición acreedoradeudora y sobre recibos y pagos por concepto de las inversiones. Las partidas incluidas se desglosaron de manera que se facilite la identificación de los recibos y pagos con la deuda o la inversión correspondiente. Además, se incorporó información suministrada directamente a esta oficina por empresas privadas a través de encuestas. Las series que se presentan para los años económicos 19611. y 1965 se prepararon a base de información incompleta, por lo cual aparecerán revisadas en futuras publicaciones.

FOREWORD
~. This bulletin presents the most relevant balance of payments series. It is the first bulletin published after Balanza de Pagos, Puerto Rico 191+2-1961 that presents complete series of the different payments and financial transactions with the rest of the world. It includes revised figures for the series originally published in the two previous, bulletins and for some items published in the before mentioned book. Since most of the estimates were revised as far back as 1958, this bulletin includes statistics from that year on to 1965. The series published in this bulletin are considered final up to 1963, semifinal for. 1961+ and preliminary for 1965. It presents for the first time a detail of the debtor-creditor position as well as the income receipts and payments on these investments. These items have been presented with the detail needed to facilitate the identification of the receipts and payments with their corresponding investments or debts. In addition, information supplied directly by private enterprises through surveys conducted by our office, have also been included. Series for fiscal years 19611. and 1965 will be revised in publications when additional data will be available.
