trudl zipper dance institute The Trudl Zipper Dance Institute is dedicated to developing the talent and ambitions of its students, from beginners in Youth Dance to aspiring professionals in the Dance Academy, and lifelong learners in Adult Dance. Performers of all levels receive sequential training in ballet, modern, tap, hip hop, and jazz in a cohesive curriculum that emphasizes the joy of dance through artistic and technical accomplishment.

Classical Reflections: From Mozart to Ravel Friday, October 23 at 7 pm Zipper Hall | Tickets start at $27 Renowned Classical specialist Dame Jane Glover leads this time-traveling exploration of Classical-era music. First, Ravel’s Le tombeau de Couperin blends 18th-century melodies with 20th-century rhythms in a woodwind-rich tribute to those lost in World War I. Then a late-Classical bassoon concertino by Bernhard Crusell showcases the instrument’s warm sound and impressive versatility. Finally, Mozart’s unapologetically Classical Symphony No. 38 closes the concert with a dramatic flourish. Music Restored and Exilarte in Concert Friday, October 30 at 7 pm | Thayer Hall | Tickets: $20 Music Restored: The Ziering-Conlon Center for Exiled and Suppressed Composers at Colburn welcomes musicians and scholars from the Exilarte Center, a renowned program at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Colburn Conservatory students join artists from Exilarte for a series of performances that feature the music of Viennese composers exiled to Los Angeles. This artistic collaboration honors composers silenced as “degenerate” under the Third Reich, bringing their string quartet music to life with urgency and care. Music Restored is generously supported by Marilyn Ziering alongside the many donors who are inspired by this important work. Take Metro to Colburn Colburn can be reached by multiple Metro lines with stops within two blocks of campus. The B and D Lines serve the Civic Center/Grand Park station at Hill and 1st Streets, and the A and E lines serve the Grand Avenue Arts/Bunker Hill station at Hope and 2nd Streets. More than 30 bus lines also stop close to campus. Use the LA Metro Trip Planner for routes and schedules.
Parking Parking on the Colburn campus is reserved for students, faculty, and staff, or by special permission. However many convenient public parking options are nearby. We recommend the nearby Walt Disney Concert Hall garage.
