As you flip through this catalog, you’ll see that I’m obviously very proud of all these bulls. I’m not going to spend much time in this welcome letter building these bulls up and boasting about their accolades. Instead I’m going to express my gratitude and appreciation for all the people that allow me to chase my dream of producing Charolais cattle in the “God’s Country” of north-central Kansas.
First and foremost thank you to my wife, Lindsay, for having the faith, confidence, and most importantly, patience, to see this thing through to where we are so far. I could brag on her all day about being supermom, wrangling 3 kids aged 3 years old and under, running her Prairie PR business, and all the marketing and books for CCC — running a household, business and keeping me in line. I’ll give you the abbreviated version: I married a rockstar who keeps the wheels spinning.
Secondly, thanks to the landlords and family who allow me to tend to their land and run our cows. Thank you, Dad and Stacey, for the Smoky Hills lease in Jewell County; Grandma Buzzy for the farm ground and pasture leases in Cloud Co.; and Aunt Donna and Uncle Gail Martinson for the Smoky Hills grass lease.
Next, thanks to Jason Swafford and the Swafford Farms crew for all the custom farming jobs done in a timely and professional manner. Our thanks to Brett Toews for running our fall ET cooperator herd. Thanks as well to the entire HBS crew, who are in charge of the day-to-day feeding and care of all the sale bulls. I’m truly appreciative of the care y’all provide ahead of the Black and White Bull Sale and the friendship between our outfits.
Outside of my wife, I rely on and put the most on the plates of Colby Baker and Mason Runft. These two gents may only be 46 years old combined, but I’d put them up against any other two in the country. Their responsibilities and abilities have grown exponentially in the past few years and only because they are capable and good at it. Calving cows in two seasons, with an alfalfa crop in between, assures one that he won’t ever sleep, and these two have never mumbled or complained. Instead, they have done what was necessary to do the job correctly.
Lindsay and I extend our thanks to all the grandparents for their endless support shown to our family and most importantly, always being there (in a moment’s notice) to help with our kids.
Lastly, we have a decent sale management team, auctioneer, and ring staff. Thanks to Graham, Jered and crew! We look forward to catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, and enjoying a steak, shrimp/crawfish boil, and bull sale on March 1. If any of us can be of any assistance let us know.

BULLS Spring
MILESTONE SONS
The greatest compliment we can give this bull is that he looks likes Mescalito — only a half frame score bigger with a shot more performance. Judging teams from across the country have commented how unique of a creature he is with his natural width, density, and quality traveling on a square flexible foundation. We are letting all of the walking rights go only because this bull is so closely related to Mescalito. With over a 21-inch ribeye and 1600 lb yearling weight, this bull is a rare combination of performance, power, and good looks. Selling 1/2 semen interest and full possession.
MILESTONE SONS
CCC HONEY BADGER 008 P
The saying “nuts, butts, and guts” is exactly what this bull is. He is backed by a tremendously productive cow that has produced a $24,000 half-interest heifer and a full brother to Honey Badger that commanded $28,000 for half interest. There’s no guessing in this powerhouse. He had the second largest ribeye on scan day at 21.78. Beef bull.
sib to Red Kingdom. Another rugged, duarble, masculine prospect with a bright future.
Presented by Shaffer Farms, Steve Shaffer.
MILES AHEAD SONS
CCC MILES AHEAD 8113 P ET
We couldn’t be more excited about this herd sire. In 2021, he’s moving from clean-up sire to mustuse AI sire. He’s providing the same punch as his sire but proving to be a much more user friendly at calving time with the injection of 1140.
MILES AHEAD SONS
He is the result of 8113’s first calf crop, and it didn’t disappoint. There’s true power, shape, width and dimension in this prospect. His muscles don’t just look big but they measure big as he this big-nutted prospect scanned over a 19 inch eye. Backed by a highly predictable Ledger dam. We feel that he’s awful special being the only February bull we took to Cattlemen’s Congress in OKC, as the rest are January borns.
RESOURCE SONS
Many of today’s popular sires were born in 2014. Resource leads the way in total registered progeny (1573 as of print time,) and 0029 would be an example of why. They are solid stock that perform and are productive. 0029 is also backed by two breed greats, Ledger and 7M, on the bottom side. With over a 19-inch eye and 4 for IMF this big-nutted prospect will generate.
REDEMPTION SONS
Balance, quality, presence, and calving ease. We sold a full sib in blood to the Makayla Houck/Stalcup Farms family in Iowa and look for her on the show road in 2021. This heifer bull prospect would be a maternal sib to a bull we sold to Rennert Charolais in Nebraska.
This February bull leads the pack in terms of ribeye area per hundredweight with a ratio of 1.57. Most are using his daddy to make show cattle, and it’s nice to see they will have real world value as well. The dam, 7106, is as impressive of a young cow to look at as well have.
Presented by Shaffer Farms, Steve Shaffer.
LOCK N LOAD SONS
0043,0056,0058,0062: These 4 full brothers are all peas in a pod and good stock. A good start to describing these bulls is that they are big bellied, long bodied, later maturing, and sound structured with extra growth. Throw in their carcass data and being backed by 5060, our pick of the bred heifers in the M&M dispersal, and there is some added appeal.

INCEPTION SONS
This creature gets us fired up! Typically your heaviest weaning weight bull doesn’t possess the balance, quality, and presence of 0031. He combines two powerhouse parents that look good. We look forward to him doing big things for us. Selling 1/2 semen interest and full possession. 0014 is a maternal sib to our 2020 high seller and exciting Mescalito. This Inception
and over 18.5 inch ribeye and be confident in this decision.
LEDGER SONS
The difference in a quality recip cow is apparent when looking at these two full sibs. 0018 got off to a better start and never looked back. 0003 is the same caliber of calf without the head start.
DAM • WC CCC SWEETHEART 1140 P DAM OF LOTS 142-143
HARDMAN 0018 P ET
Unreal carcass data: more than a 19-inch ribeye and a 5.55 IMF score. This rugged, masculine, freight-liner of a bull does a lot right. Both 0018 and 0003 are backed by the great 1140 cow, the dam of two of our working bulls. CCC HARDMAN 0018 P ET
JOCKEY SONS
144
He has had the herd bull look since before weaning. He’s one that knows he’s good and like showing off. Extremely proportional from the side while still having square hard feet, extra mass and a big pin set. Offers added value in his mating flexibility.
We purchased this bull with Broberg Charolais to diversify our genetic offering. He was the high selling lot at Hubert Charolais Ranch in 2019. Jockey has done a nice job of transmitting muscle, width, and structure while adding carcass merit.
JOCKEY SONS
His 11 year old mother finally came up open this fall and she was given the opportunity to thrive somewhere else. 0065’s dam may have saved the best for last as he is as cocky, powerfully constructed, and big pinned of a prospect as we have to offer.
Lot 147 is a bull that offers rib shape and dimension. He comes from one of my most consistent females every year and his top side goes back to the great LT Pyramid 6164 PLD family. Buy with confidence. Presented by Mason Cattle Company, Mason Runft. 146
ADDITIONAL SIRES
CCC FOREMAN 0007 P
149
His dam, 8117, is likely going to be the next young cow to work her way into the donor pen as this feminine, extended, dead level, perfect uddered female generated this powerhouse in 0007, and is currently raising an impressive Mescalito bull calf. 0007’s pedigree and numbers say he’s a heifer bull, but most heifer bulls don’t look like him. Throw in the almost 18-inch eye as a bonus.
RUSHMORE SONS
This bull is a maternal brother to the 2019 Reserve Champion Junior Heifer in Louisville. We called our good friends at Barber Ranches and asked them which Hereford bull to use to maintain looks but add belly and mass. 4030 did as they said. This was supposed to be a heifer prospect sold in the fall, but instead this one had nuts. The Hereford breed is something we are toying with for a junior project for our growing cowkid herd.
SOONER J RANCH Herd Acquisition
We’ve been aggressively building our herd through ET and AI work over the past several years and were in the market to purchase more cows. When the opportunity came up to acquire the Sooner J Ranch herd from Steve and Tamma Jones, we jumped at it.
Sooner J put together a solid foundation of relevant and proven genetics from across the United States. And, they were breeding their cows to our bulls or similar genetics, making it a no-brainer on our end to purchase the herd. These bulls were started on feed about 45 days after ours but have charged ahead. We are as confident in their abilities as we are of our own bulls and will stand behind them 100 percent.
The Sooner J cowherd now makes its home in NCK; and moving forward, the bulls will be developed with and like CCC bulls. We appreciate Steve and Tamma instilling their trust in us, allowing us to acquire their herd and continue moving their base forward.
Spring-born bulls obtained from Sooner J are presented on the following 3 pages.

UNCHARTED SONS
When I saw this calf in Oklahoma, he’s the one that sealed the deal for me. Phenotype-wise, he’s a stand out and genetically, he reads right. He offers a 5.1 IMF for the cherry on top.

CCC BRICKHOUSE
2029
P This bull is a commercial man bull — muscle, length, and width.
2029 is sired by our 2019 second highest seller, Resurgence. We felt that Resurgence had the potential to sire performance driven, powerhouse progeny. 2029 is what we what we had in mind. Dense-made and robust with an over 20-inch ribeye.

RUSHMORE SONS

9506 is truly a specimen in terms of efficient beef production. With the addition to our cowherd we are able to incorporate his genetic makeup back in our herd. His full brother sold last year is working for Harvie Ranches in Canada, and a full sib in blood was sold to Watje Charolais in Minnesota the year before. Retaining 1/2 Semen interest and walking rights from March 25 through June 5.
BLUE VALUE & MILESTONE SONS
5173, THE 2017 NATIONAL CHAMPION FEMALE • DAM OF 9522
A full brother is working for Hangin A in Washington. This mating consistently generates extra dimension, width, and quality. Backed by the $125,OOO Milestone and 2017 National Champion, P-Fuzz.
ADDITIONAL SIRES
We went “old school” when mating this one’s mama. She’s a solid Rushmore cow that needed more punch and go, and INXS did that (and some.)

BULL GUARANTEE
Unless otherwise noted, all the breeding age bulls will have passed a breeding soundness exam prior to pick up/delivery. In addition to the standard Terms and Conditions of the American Simmental Association and the American International Charolais Association we will provide the first breeding season (the 90-day period immediately following turn out) guarantee on all yearling and older bulls. This guarantee is not an insurance or mortality policy, but a guarantee on functional fertility. It is not a substitute or replacement for poor management. Buyer assumes all risks for injury due to running bulls together or management decisions outside genetic control. For the guarantee to apply, we ask that you contact us as soon as a condition is observed and before the animal is sold. We will work with you to determine whether the animal is returned or sold for slaughter. We will attempt to provide a suitable replacement. If one cannot be provided of equal or greater value, we will issue a sale credit to be used in a future sale for the full purchase price less the salvage value of the animal.
