Some people collect baseball cards, others collect antiques. I’d be guilty of not letting go of good white cows. We have over 20 years of tweaking on these cows, and my Dad and Grandpa Don had 45 years before that. It pains me to put these females in this sale, as every one of them would have been given a shot in our herd. This Select Female Sale is out of necessity as we realize that we won’t have enough room for them next summer.
We know that people demand quality and only want to buy the best — this is what we are offering. We are proud to say that all mature cattle will be run on grass, in their natural condition before the sale and will not receive supplements, besides mineral. We are more interested in them being successful for their next owner than we are in having them be in fat “sale” condition. I’d be willing to bet most of us have bought a few of these and the calving experience wasn’t enjoyable.
