MANAGING SUMMER COSTS

A note on our look: You may notice a refreshed look in our communications but our commitment to you hasn’t changed. As a member‑owned cooperative, we’re dedicated to serving you. This update reflects our goal to give you a modern, easy experience while staying true to who we are.

Our responsibility is to keep power reliable while working to keep bills as low as possible. Summer bills can feel challenging as many households face rising costs. We take responsibility for doing all we can to keep bills as low as possible while maintaining the reliable service you count on. In fact, we’ve had the #1 lowest electric rates in the state for three years in a row.

Small Shifts for Real Savings What we’re doing to keep bills low We take deliberate steps to manage costs and protect you from rising energy prices. That includes negotiating competitive wholesale power contracts, carefully managing operating expenses and investing in system maintenance that reduces outages and costly repairs. What you can do to help manage costs Simple, consistent habits can make a meaningful difference. Whenever possible, manage cooling settings consistently and shift energy-consuming tasks like laundry away from the hottest afternoon hours. Small adjustments made over time often have the greatest impact on your monthly bill. For members who may need additional support, especially those on a fixed income, resources are available at cobbemc.com/assistance.

Why 1 Degree Matters Lowering your thermostat by just 1 degree can increase the energy needed to cool your home by 3–5%.

Avoid PeakTime Power Use Running dishwashers, laundry and other large appliances later in the evening can help reduce strain during peak afternoon hours.

Use Ceiling Fans Correctly Running fans only when rooms are occupied helps you feel cooler without adjusting the thermostat.
