NO SHELTER HERE Less than a month after the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision allowing municipalities to enforce prohibitions on camping sites in public areas, the San Marcos City Council adopted a citywide ban on encampments. SAN MARCOS — The body of a young man was discovered in a field in San Marcos last week. According to sheriff’s Lt. Patrick Fox, the body was discovered shortly after 11 p.m. on July 10 in a vacant field at the intersection of South Las Posas Road and Linda Vista Drive. The individual appears to be a male in his late 20s, Fox said.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office is currently investigating the death. The field where the man’s body was found is a 33-acre vacant site in the industrial zone next to Bradley Park. The southern area of the lot is the proposed site of a 228-unit residential development that will go before the San Marcos City Council for approval later this month.

After nearly a year in federal court, Port Huron City Manager James FREED Freed’s anti-defamation complaint against the International City/County Management Association and several of its board members has returned to St. Clair County District Court in Port Huron, Michigan. “This was a politically motivated campaign of personal destruction waged by Antil and others to destroy the career and reputation of Freed because he embarrassed the governor,” said Joe Turner, president of the American Association of Municipal Executives, of which Freed is a member. “Instead of being lauded for defending the rights of employees and ensuring continuity of services to residents, he was shamefully persecuted by his professional association and peers.” According to Freed’s attorney, Todd Shoudy of Fletcher Fealko Shoudy & Francis, all parties must appear in person at the St. Clair County courthouse for
