An adult male weasel was brought to the animal welfare nonprofit by a community member who found him caught in a trap in Oceanside. A Nissan Xterra traveling west on Encinitas Boulevard at the intersection of Village Square Drive collided with another vehicle that had been stopped at a red light, which then struck Chalekian as she crossed the street, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. She died at the scene. Since his arraignment, Sengendo’s legal team has submitted a mitigation packet — a collection of letters to the District Attorney’s Office and the judge. Kristin Marshall, a prosecutor with the DA’s Office, said in court that the move was “highly unusu-
