Lou Grant says goodbye to Melinda Hanson
Longtime Lou Grant Parent-Child Workshop employee Melinda Hanson will retire from her position at the preschool, where she has worked for more than 30 years. Hanson created the Extended Day, or Splendid Day, program with former director Betty Songer in 1991. Hanson has worked with numerous employees of the Lou Grant Parent-Child Workshop, including former director Ellen Stoddard, current director Judy Johnston and Meg Monteath. Monteath will continue Hanson’s work at the preschool and has worked with Hanson since 2006. “The current staff and families are so happy for her,” Johnston said. “They will miss her greatly and wish her all the best.” Pictured below is this year’s graduating class, from left, Ryan Crooks, Dash Lelende, Luca Lesec, Reef Armstrong, Aspen Yonkers, Paige Davis, Davey Doucette, Sonny Burquez, Jay Damron, Rubi Gonzalez, Sissy Gottwald-Wright, Evangeline Rizo, Sophie Nestor, Oleana VanWingerden, Abby Compuzano-Aviles, August Moses-Abbott, Maddox Paglia and Lee Aulakh.
