Carpinteria Future Farmers of America (FFA) students had plenty to celebrate as they wrapped up a successful week at the Ventura County Fair. From left, Gwyn Hultman, Leti Carr, Alexa Santes and Yasmin Herrera show off their chickens and awards during the Junior Livestock Auction. Carr brought home two of the chapter’s biggest honors, earning Best in Show Champion and first place in Senior Division Chicken Showmanship. All 27 Carpinteria FFA students who participated in this year’s fair sold their animals at auction, capping months of early mornings, long days at the barn and dedication to their projects. The community can still reward their hard work with tax-deductible add-on donations through Aug. 13. Read about Carpinteria FFA’s big week at the fair and how to support the students on page 10.
