Tam to give update on emergency department By Kerin Magill Staff Reporter Dr. David Tam, president and CEO of Beebe Healthcare, will be visiting the Evans Park Community Building in Millville on Thursday, June 18, at 1 p.m. During Tam’s visit, he will be providing updates on Beebe’s South Coastal Emergency Department, located on Route 17 in Millville.
Tam will also be seeking feedback from residents regarding community needs, services and priorities they would like to see addressed at the Tam facility. The visit is a follow-up to Tam’s appearance at Millville Town Hall in Jan-
uary, when he promised to return for a more “informal” session to hear questions and comments from residents. At that time, Tam discussed possible expansions at the South Coastal facility. In January, Tam said there are several options being considered at the Millville facility. “Our studies have shown that your area has grown exponentially and will continue to do so,” he said.
Expansion of the South Coastal cancer treatment facility is being considered, Tam said, as are additional medical offices. Beebe is also considering adding inpatient beds at South Coastal, for patients who may not need to be transferred to Lewes but simply need a short stay for observation. Candidates have the final say before 2026 Millsboro election Two candidates are sharing their final thoughts ahead of this weekend’s 2026 Millsboro Town Council election. Voting will be at Millsboro Town Center on will be Saturday, June 13, from 1 to 7 p.m. Residents have the option of in-person or absentee ballot. Voters will choose which of two candidates — Ronald O’Neal of Pond Alley and Stephen Webster of Madison Street — will represent District 2. (Geographically, this district twists across town, including parts of downtown, Hardscrabble Road, Hickory Hill and Handy Roads.) Because two more candidates are running unopposed, they will automatically keep their council seats: Gary Mack of Charlotte Boulevard (District 3) and Marty Presley of Roanoke Rapids (at-large/townwide). I would love for that number to be zero … So, a lot of our focus and decision-making has safety at the forefront,” said Hastings, who previously served as deputy
