rooftop pool patio. The application, filed July 13, is for a “wet bar variance in an existing licensed patio” at the Fenwick Shores hotel, located at 1501 Coastal Highway. In 2020, the hotel — then under construction — applied for a license to serve alcohol from an outdoor bar by
the pool. While the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission approved Fenwick Shores’ related requests for approvals for liquor service in other parts of the restaurant, the request for the pool bar was denied by Commissioner John Cordrey. Cordrey’s ruling came seven
months after a seven-hour virtual public hearing on the request, during which 25 people spoke in opposition to the pool bar. The bar’s opponents — most of whom owned homes near the

By Laura Walter Staff Reporter In many government organizations, the elected town council might be the most visible decisionmakers — but it’s often an administrator who leads the daily legwork. That person advises the council on government matters, leads the town hall staff, drafts ordinances, helps write the budget and interacts with the general public. The Town of Dagsboro is currently accepting applications for the position of town administrator, with a deadline of Aug. 31. Current administrator Cynthia “Cindi” Brought plans to retire by the end of 2026, after 10 years with the Town. “I think by the end of August, we’ll have some good candidates, and then, of course, we’ll meet with our mayor and council and police chief,” Brought said. A town administrator (or town manager) is a boots-on-the-ground executive who leads the staff to carry out the Town’s actual administrative work, following the town code and ensuring the departments keep functioning. Millville considering annexing two Route 17 properties By Kerin Magill Staff Reporter Millville could grow by more than 150 acres if two possible annexations come to fruition. The two properties are both located
off Route 17. One, a 94.7-acre parcel off Burton Farm Road, on July 21 received the recommendation of Millville’s Annexation Committee to be considered by the town council for annexation. The second parcel, approximately 58
acres near Powell Farm Road, is much earlier in the annexation process. A representative of the developer Lennar gave a preliminary presentation to the Millville Town Council on Tuesday, Aug. 11. No annexation application has been filed for that property, the annexation of
which would involve amending the Town’s Comprehensive Plan to include the land in the zoning map for possible future annexation. The council voted at this week’s See MILLVILLE page A7
