Selbyville swears in Cary and Monroe By Susan Canfora Staff Reporter Selbyville Town Councilwoman Carol Cary and Councilman Monroe Hudson were both sworn in to new terms during the Monday, March 4, council meeting. No candidates filed to run for election opposing either of them, so the election scheduled for Saturday, March, 2, was canceled. As they were sworn in, each vowed to perform their duties by upholding
the ordinances of the town “without fear or prejudice.” Then Mayor Rick Duncan congratulated them, saying, “Welcome back. The past years have been great working with you.” Police Chief Brain Wilson was also reappointed. Other council members are Councilmen Gary Steffen and Chris Snader. The terms for Duncan, Steffen and Snader end in March 2025.
Duncan, Cary, Long to read to students Selbyville Mayor Rick Duncan, Cary and Town Administrator Stacey Long will read to children at Showell Elementary School this month. As part of the One Town, One Book program, the town officials will read the book “Cleo Edison Oliver, Playground Millionaire” by Sundee Tucker Frazier, about a little girl who operates a tooth-
pulling business. Duncan, who will be there the morning of Friday, March 12, said his grandson jokingly asked him if Duncan wanted him to sit nearby to help him pronounce the words.
