Ocean View praised for safety, quality of life By Susan Canfora Staff Reporter For the fifth consecutive year, the town of Ocean View’s low crime rate and rich quality of life have resulted in three websites highlighting it as a choice domicile. Fenwick Island’s annual communal dip in the frigid waters of the Atlantic is set, once again, for New Year’s Day morning. “Everyone is welcome to attend and we look forward to a fun way to kick off the new year together,” Fenwick Island Beach Committee chairwoman and Town Council member Jacqueline Napolitano said at the council’s final meeting for the year on Dec. 16. The Fenwick Freeze will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1 on the beach at Bayard Street. Prewww.fenwickisland.delaware.gov. Preregistration takes place at Town Hall until Dec. 29. The Leo Brady - New Year’s Day Plunge, sponsored by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce and benefiting the William O. Murray scholarship fund, started in 1997 and is a 25-year tradition in Bethany Beach. The plunge into the ocean will go as planned at noon on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, with a new beach crossover at the north side of Garfield Parkway near the Bethany clock on the boardwalk providing access. Mayor Rosemary Hardiman told Coastal Point that the dunes and beach may be accessed now at the main bandstand area of the boardwalk.
