The Angler Magazine Visits The Atlanta Fly Fishing Show

Left: Bob Rice, Right: Nick Carter

In early February, The Fly Fishing Show came to Atlanta for two days and filled the 50,000-square-foot floor of the Infinite Energy Center with hundreds of vendors displaying all things fly fishing. It was a great show, with a large and engaged niche audience attending from all over the Southeast. Atlanta and Southwest Georgia Co-publisher Bob Rice and his wife Brenda had a booth for The Angler Magazine. Nick Carter was invited by the show promoter to sign copies of his book “Flyfisher’s Guide to North Carolina & Georgia.” While he wasn’t working the author table, he helped man The Angler Magazine booth, and the response from showgoers was very encouraging. Even from such a targeted audience as fly fishers, there was great recognition of our brand. Bob has done a great job cultivating content and relationships around Georgia’s fly fishing community, and it was evident. All the locals knew who we were and had good things to say. Even better, we heard a lot of “Oh, isn’t that the same magazine I pick up when I go to the coast?” Recognition of our brand was strong, and all those exhibitors noticed

Miami Boat Show The Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show attracted tens of thousands of boating enthusiasts and marine professionals to South Florida this past President’s Day weekend. The massive show provided the opportunity to view, shop and board nearly 1,400 new boats, yachts, sailboats, catamarans and thousands of boating accessories, all in one location. The show has traditionally been a meter reading for the marine industry. As the Miami Boat Show goes, so goes the industry for the upcoming year. The brigade from Coastal Angler Magazine was in attendance with Ben Martin, Tracy Patterson, Charlie McCullough, Ryan Drygas, Spencer Schorr, and Gene Dyer all in their white Coastal Angler Magazine fishing shirts and khaki shorts! According to Ryan Drygas, “The Miami Boat Show was a testimonial to the growth of our economy and a show of force for the boating community.” Ben Martin was in full agreement, adding, “This year’s Miami Show left no doubt that consumer confidence along with sales is up, up, up. Bigger, better and faster were the banners that companies like Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha flew!”

our presence as well. More than 1,000 attendees walked the aisles with a folded copy of the latest The Angler in their hand or back pocket. Bob sold one national ad from the show. And as Nick and Bob packed up, they were excited about developing several other leads. These trade shows are perfect venues for what we do, which is hand out free magazines, expose our advertisers and mingle with potential new partners.
