Palm Beach Boat Show seen “good quality attendees,” rather than large numbers of visitors come to the Italian superyacht builder’s display. Benetti had two megayachts on display, including a Benetti 125 Fast called Lejos 3 and a custom Benetti 48-meter yacht called Elidrea. “The attendance started out strong on Thursday and the first two days were filled with quality traffic,” he said on Saturday. It’s unusual for the company to close deals at a show, said Bischoff, but he thought that it might happen this year with a 116 Mediterraneo. “All the feedback we’ve had was positive,” said Moore. “We didn’t see the crowd that we’d expected but the quality was excellent. We’ve even managed to sell a few mmediately after boats.” Moore’s dealership represents the Axopar, Brabus, Ilene and Jeremy Beneteau’s Antares line, Glastron and tender brands. The Wallace completed company also sponsored the “Aquazone” on the south new franchisee end of the show, which was a large in-water area that had training class with been cordoned off. here is no great secret regarding fishing reels. If you take care of them after every use and service them at least once or twice a year it will extend the reliability and life of the reel. It doesn’t matter if you fish inshore, offshore, lakes, rivers, saltwater or fresh— old grease, sand, salt and grit can bind the gears and can cause excess wear on parts and possibly cause the loss of a trophy fish. Of all the reel’s parts, bearings and drag washers are the most important. If you feel the reel binding or you’re not getting the distance when casting, the cause could be dirt, old grease or a bad bearing. There are many types of bearings, stainless and ceramic. Without hesitation if a bearing needs replacement, we replace it with a stainless steel, ABEC-5 or ABEC-7. For those anglers where weight and casting distance is everything, I suggest ceramic, as they are 2/3 the weight, virtually frictionless and harder than steel with less corrosion issues.

arbara Ryan turned a fledgling franchise into a top producing franchise shortly after buying the business with no advertising sales experience, so we asked her to pass along her tips before she boated off into retirement. She initially bought the franchise to earn an income and get back into the job market when her daughters went off to college and she found herself an empty-nester after 18 years raising her family. Her plan was to use the income from the franchise to assist her daughters through school, have some extra spending money, sell the franchise for a profit when they graduated from college, and then retire. Mission accomplished!

Don’t say no for a prospect - let them make that call. So many times, I’ve passed by a prospect that I visited in the past and decided for them that they probably were not interested. I recognized what I was doing, made a u-turn and stopped in. Can’t tell you how many times I walked out with a sale.

Depending how much you fish, drag washers should be replaced periodically or in some cases cleaned to remove the grit and grime. A basic test for drag washers is to start by tightening down the drag and pulling line off the reel by hand. If the line is slipping or jerky as you pull, it’s time to change out the drag’s washer. We’ve learned that replacement should be what the manufacturer recommends; substituting could change the dynamics of the reel performance. Wet or dry drag washers? That’s a discussion in itself. We let our customers decide what they want. Regular cleaning of your fishing equipment is essential for peak performance. If nothing else, rinsing with fresh water will help. Our company has developed the product 4 Reel Cleaner. Just spray on after each use and you’ll dramatically extend the lifetime of any reel by eliminating harmful salts, grit, stains, mold and blood. It’s also safe on all fishing lines including braids, mono and fly lines. Whether you service the reels yourself or send them out, reels should be completely torn down, parts cleaned and inspected for wear. Inspect bearings for noise or binding. Check for worn or broken drag washers, and replace them if needed. Then re-assemble reels using the highest quality lubrication available. 4 Reel Services has been serving the fishing community since 2006 in southeast Florida. We service a full spectrum of reels including salt and freshwater reels, power-assist reels, electric reels and downriggers.

I use the 5th of the month as my layout deadline. It gives me wiggle-room and you are not going crazy chasing down so many loose ends. That is printed on our media kit. Get involved with organizations that are related to the magazine, including tournaments, fishing clubs, chamber, Marine Industries Association. Be generous with sponsorship/advertising splits so you can attend sponsor receptions, hang your banner and meet other sponsors (potential advertisers).
6 7 8 9 10
Connect with local CRAs - Environmental Resource Management - CCA - Reef and Environmentally Focused organizations - Solid Waste Authority. Set aside a day or 2 each month to be out in the market in each area of your market. For example: North County - Mid County South County - Western Communities.
Go to the weigh-ins/Captain’s Parties or fish the local tournaments. Likewise attend/sponsor community events such as Paddlefest / Holiday Boat Parade / Seafood Festivals etc. Make Mon/Fri your office days/personal appt days - no one wants to see you then anyway. Or take a long weekend.
Write a handwritten thank you note to every new advertiser after you have completed their art and payment has been made. Thank each renewing customer annually with a note. Send Christmas cards. Every new advertiser pays up front for their ad (unless they are government or a big company).

lene and Jeremy Wallace moved to Wellington in Palm Beach County from Long Island, N.Y. about a year and a half ago. It was hard to leave their roots of family and close friends but they were seeking the too short New York summers of sun, beaches, & fishing year long. The couple and their 3 children, Jackson (10), Alexis (10), and Samantha (5) are fully enjoying their new South Florida lifestyle.
Ilene was in the fashion industry up until the twins came & Jeremy continues to be in digital advertising for marketing tech firms. The couple was looking at opportunities Ilene and Jeremy Wallace for Ilene now that all three kids are off Palm Beach County Co-Publishers to public school. Then one day their son had picked up a copy of the Treasure Coast edition at a store in Stuart on a trip to the Oceanographic Coastal Center and Ilene says, “It started to all fall into place from there.” The whole family is very excited to participate in this new venture and produce a great magazine!
