A lot of time, energy and effort has been put into ensuring our centennial year is properly celebrated After all, we only get one chance to honor such a commemorative milestone
I’m thrilled to announce the lineup of events we have for the season ahead
“A Legacy of PGA Professionals. A Century of Growth.” Celebrating 1926-2026
Five unique elements have been designed to connect PGA Professionals, golf enthusiasts, and the public across Central New York Each is designed to honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future
1 Centennial Webpage where we will host archived videos, historical information while allowing our members and the golfing public to share stories.
Anthony Maglisco put together one of the most impressive performances in recent AIM Championship history, leading from the opening round to the final putt to capture the 2026 Men’s AIM Championship by seven strokes Over four rounds contested at Green Lakes Golf Course, Cortland Country Club, Tuscarora Golf Club, and Oswego Country Club, Maglisco never relinquished the lead, finishing with a championship total of 8-under-par 277 His steady play throughout the week separated him from the field and culminated in a convincing seven-shot victory
2.Centennial Video Series - “Decades of Golf”. Each decade will have a short feature combining archived photos and videos covering various milestones and cultural moments in golf
3 Centennial Goosechase Challenge - “The Centennial Quest” App designed scavenger hunt across golf courses, landmarks and PGA facilities Tasks will include visiting courses, taking selfies at partner locations, trivia questions based on our history and fun mini-challenges at Centennial Events.
4.Centennial Celebration Golf Event. Monday, July 13th at Binghamton CC. 10AM Shotgun start, scramble format for all members, invited guests and partners of the CNY PGA. The goal is to promote camaraderie amongst the membership all while honoring the past, celebrating the present and inspiring future generations of PGA golf professionals
5 Centennial Digital Issued Magazine - “100 Years of Golf: The Legacy of the Central New York PGA” Designed to encapsulate major moments and signature milestones, interviews and stories from the CNY PGA membership, photos, documents and memorabilia along with a timeline of golf evolution in CNY.
Our Spring and Fall Meeting along with our Annual Holiday Banquet provide us additional opportunities to promote and celebrate our “Century of Excellence”

Results
The U.S. Army veteran was among the competitors at the fourth annual PGA HOPE CNY Pro-A event honors U S active and military veterans while raising funds for the PGA HOPE program
In a post-tournament speech, Pedro expressed the importance of PGA HOPE in his life and the lives of other veterans. “As I transitioned out of the Army, I was in a bad place for a while trying to figure out life Then I got into PGA HOPE,” said Pedro, a PGA HOPE graduate “My motto is three words: Peace, Joy and Purpose If you find your joy in life, then you’ll find your purpose Now my purpose is serving veterans. PGA HOPE is a way to do that.”
Veterans were the primary focus during the Pro-Am tourney as 32 teams participated Many foursomes had a veteran on their team including this year’s overall winners.
Central New York PGA Team Plis finished first with a 15-under-par 56 playing an 18-hole Captain and Crew format Team members were Nick Bove, PGA of America Member Dylan Plis, Dan Michaels and Navy veteran Casey Ware. First-place trophies were provided by tournament partner Sterling Cut Glass.
For the second straight year, IBEW Local 43/NECA Finger Lakes Chapter served as the presenting partner of the PGA HOPE CNY Pro-Am
Sunset Ridge, led by Andy Myers, PGA, came in second at 13-under 58 Other team members were Stephen Hall, PGA, Ben Glass and Jimmy King
In the Veteran Division (for the low team score with a veteran team member), Team Zorn took first place with a 62 by virtue of a tiebreaker with another team that shot same score Team members were: PGA REACH CNY Foundation Coordinator Don Zorn, Will Weimer, PGA, Chris Cook and Greg Cohen.
The tournament began with an opening prayer and the national anthem There also was a military gun salute by veterans in combat uniforms Each participant received a PGA HOPE sign provided by partner Signs by the Sea and PGA

On the first tee, players were handed a Challenge Coin, a military symbol of achievement and appreciation, by PGA HOPE Ambassador and Army veteran Eric Schuster The coin was designed by PGA REACH CNY Executive Director, Joe Tesori, PGA
A post-tournament reception was held on the Bellevue CC patio Tesori recognized the Pro-Am tournament partners/sponsors and introduced Pedro to speak.
Pedro, the president of Southern Tier Veterans Support Group Inc , is training to become a PGA HOPE Ambassador
“PGA HOPE kickstarts what I’m doing in my network in the Southern Tier to bring veterans out of their houses and get the camaraderie golf and PGA HOPE offers,” Pedro said
All dollars raised at this event will go to PGA HOPE CNY programs and post-programming opportunities for our local veteran community

As a partner, 5 Iron Golf will bring its signature high-tech experience directly to the course for one of the tour’s marquee events. During July’s CNYPGA Junior Tour Players Championship, 5 Iron Golf will deploy advanced Trackman technology on-site to host an exclusive long-drive competition
