Welcome to the latest edition of Club Rivers News.
As we move through winter and into early spring, I am pleased to reflect on a positive and productive period for Club Rivers. The Board and Management remain focused on strong governance, financial responsibility, and delivering value for our members while continuing to support our local community.
Community engagement remains central to everything we do. Our ongoing support of local charities, sporting groups and schools continues to make a meaningful dierence, and I thank all organisations and volunteers who work alongside us.
On 26 June, we will again host the Sleeping Rough fundraising event with Georges River Life Care. Now in its 13th year, this important initiative raises awareness and vital funds to support vulnerable families in our community. Further details are included in this issue.
Our ANZAC Day services were again extremely well attended, demonstrating the deep respect our community holds for those who have served and continue to serve. Thank you to everyone who contributed to these significant commemorations.
Through ClubGRANTS, we have continued to support a wide range of local organisations, and I am proud to announce that Club Rivers is once
I also commend our CRCommuniTEAM for their ongoing volunteer work, which truly reflects the spirit and purpose of our Club.
There are many exciting events ahead, including our popular Christmas in July lunch on 21 July, along with a range of promotions and activities for members. Sports fans can also enjoy all NRL and State of Origin action live on the big screen at Club Rivers.
Finally, I thank our sta for their professionalism and warm service, and our members for your continued loyalty and support. On behalf of the Board, thank you for being part of Club Rivers and we look forward to seeing you around the Club in the months ahead.

As we move through another busy period at Club Rivers, I want to acknowledge the many ways our Club continues to bring people together, while also preparing responsibly for the future.
The past few months have again shown that Club Rivers is far more than just a venue. From continuing our proud heritage and commemorating another successful ANZAC Day, to a packed Mother’s Day filled with family gatherings, along with a wide range of community activities, entertainment and everyday catch-ups, the Club continues to play an important role in the lives of our members.
Whether members are meeting friends for coee, enjoying Yum Cha at Jade Swan, bringing the kids to the Minidome, or attending one of our many events, these moments all contribute to the strong sense of community we are proud of.
We were also pleased to support Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on 21 May, an event that continues to resonate with so many of our members and sta. It is a simple but meaningful reminder that community support can make a real dierence. Thank you to everyone who attended, donated or contributed to the day in support of the Cancer Council.
Now in our 15th year, the Club has raisedaround $59 000through the continued support of our members, sta and community.

Behind the scenes, a great deal of work continues on the master planning for Club Rivers. This important work is being guided by the Board’s long-term vision for the Club and its commitment to strong governance, responsible planning and ensuring decisions are made in the best interests of our members and community. Please be assured this process is being approached with care, patience and responsibility. Planning for the future of a club like ours is not simply about buildings or design concepts. It is about understanding what our members need today, what our community may need tomorrow, and how we protect the long-term strength of Club Rivers.
At the same time, our focus remains firmly on the current member experience. We will continue to improve our facilities, dining options, entertainment and overall service so the Club remains welcoming, relevant and enjoyable for all members.
I would also like to thank our sta, who continue to work hard across every area of the Club. Their eort, pride and dedication are what bring the Club experience to life each day.
Finally, thank you to our members for your ongoing loyalty and support. Your involvement gives Club Rivers its energy and purpose, and we look forward to continuing to serve you in the months ahead.
I hope to see you around the Club soon.

The 2026 Gala Dinner hosted by the Autism Community Network was a heartfelt and uplifting evening, bringing together the community in support of individuals and families living with autism.
Held in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the event was a celebration of connection, understanding and generosity. Guests enjoyed a relaxed evening of great food, conversation and entertainment, while also hearing inspiring stories about the positive impact Autism Community Network continues to make through its programs and advocacy.
A highlight of the night was the strong sense of solidarity in the room, with attendees united by a shared commitment to inclusion and community support. The generosity shown throughout the evening, including fundraising activities and donations, will directly assist Autism Community Network to continue delivering vital services, resources and opportunities for people on the autism spectrum.
The 2026 Gala Dinner was not only a successful fundraiser, but also a meaningful reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together with compassion and purpose.

Climbing a mountain is hard. Climbing it for a cause bigger than yourself changes everything. For many families, autism is a journey filled with challenges, resilience and quiet victories that often go unseen. Our team wanted to make those stories impossible to ignore – so we decided to take on a mountain.
On Saturday, 11 April, Club Rivers partnered with the Autism Community Network (ACN) to climb Mount Kosciuszko – the highest peak in Australia – in support of autism awareness and acceptance.
Despite extreme weather conditions – including snow, rain and winds reaching 70 km/h – the group ascended to 2228 metres, where temperatures dropped as low as -15°C.
Sta from across the Club took part in the challenge, including CEO Paul Millar and Club President Michael Free, along with duty managers, floor sta and administrative personnel.
Vanessa Gauci, CEO of ACN, says her leadership is deeply shaped by her experience as the mother of an autistic individual. She describes ACN as a place of belonging, where she and others can share fears openly and speak without judgment.
Gauci emphasises her commitment to fostering a supportive environment in which members uplift one another with understanding and care, calling the organisation “a lifeline – a network of love and support".
The inspiration behind ACN’s annual Mount Kosciuszko climb is rooted in raising awareness, acceptance and understanding of autism.
The event symbolises both the challenges faced by autistic individuals and their families, and the achievements possible with the right support.
While the journey can be demanding and, at times, feel far from the goal, reaching the summit represents a strong sense of accomplishment.
Gauci says the climb holds deep meaning for the autism community.
“It’s going to be challenging – but what our parents, carers and autistic individuals go through every day is nothing compared to what we’ll experience today,” she says.
This year’s theme, Elevate Acceptance, drew on the powerful symbolism of Mount Kosciuszko to highlight the uphill journey many autistic individuals face in accessing basic support and inclusion.
The metaphor reflects the daily challenges experienced across the community, while also underlining the importance of collective eort in driving change.
Funds raised through the event, along with increased public awareness, will directly support the ongoing work of ACN, helping the organisation continue its mission of fostering connection and providing essential support for the autistic community.
This year’s Sleeping Rough event continues to reflect the strength and compassion of our community. Each year, more people step forward — not just to raise funds, but to stand in solidarity with those facing homelessness, domestic violence and financial hardship. It’s a powerful reminder that real change happens when a community chooses to show up, together.
Fundraising Dinner at Club Rivers – 630pm onwards – Open to corporate partners and supporters, the evening features inspiring speakers, live auctions, and light entertainment.
“Sleeping Rough”Family Zone 630pm-800pm (1.5 hours)
Directly across the road in the Riverwood carpark between 6.30pm –8.00pm is our new addition to Sleeping Rough – Family Zone. Family Zone is a ticketed event and does not involve sleeping out overnight, making it accessible to everyone!
Immersive“Sleep Out”Experience 830pm – OVERNIGHT
Held in the Riverwood car park, participants will experience Sleeping Rough — a night doing it tough with other rough sleepers in the cold carpark, finished o with a bbq breakfast.

On Friday 8 May, the team at Club Rivers proudly came together to support Purple Friday, a statewide initiative led by Clubs NSW to say NO to Domestic and Family Violence (DFV).
Dressed in purple, sta and members showed their solidarity with victim-survivors and sent a clear message: domestic and family violence has no place in our community. Purple Friday is about more than awareness—it’s about standing up, starting conversations and committing to real action.
Club Rivers’ participation reflects an ongoing commitment to ending DFV through meaningful programs and community-led initiatives. In the coming weeks, this commitment will continue with the GRLC Sleep Out, where participants will sleep rough in the Club Rivers car park to help raise awareness and funds for those aected by domestic and family violence.
By taking part in Purple Friday and supporting initiatives like the Sleep Out, Club Rivers is helping shine a light on an issue that aects far too many people. Together, we can raise awareness, support those in need, and work toward a future free from domestic and family violence.
Club Rivers is proud to stand alongside our community in support of the DV Awareness Cup — a powerful annual rugby league gala day that brings young people and their families together while shining a vital spotlight on Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) awareness, education and support.
This year’s event sees six St George high schools take part in a round-robin competition that showcases teamwork, respect and resilience on the field.
As a community-focused club, Club Rivers is committed to supporting initiatives that promote safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes for our local community. Our involvement in the DV Awareness Cup reflects this commitment — recognising that sporting events like this can be a powerful platform for education, conversation and change.

The success of the DV Awareness Cup is driven by strong collaboration between key partners including the NSW Police Force, Shoalhaven Liquor Accord, and the St George Illawarra Dragons, alongside a wide range of dedicated community support organisations. Together, they share a common goal — building safer communities and strengthening the networks that support those impacted by DFV.
Club Rivers is honoured to support initiatives like the DV Awareness Cup, where sport becomes a catalyst for awareness and action. By standing united and starting important conversations, we can help create a future where every young person and every family feels safe, supported and empowered.

Club Rivers has oicially stepped forward as a major sponsor for the Australian registered charity Horse Aid, funding two critical equineassisted mental health programs.
This vital community support bridges the gap between vulnerable front-line personnel and retired thoroughbred racehorses and directly facilitates two targeted, free-of-charge initiatives designed to assist serving and ex-serving defense personnel and first responders battling trauma, anxiety, and PTSD.
The financial backing from community hubs like Club Rivers ensures these critical mental health resources remain operational without placing financial stress on recovering service members.

Earlier in March, Peakhurst United FC, alongside Football St George, hosted the 'Women in Football Pink Ribbon Gala Day' at Peakhurst Park. In order to continue to promote female football, especially amongst young girls, this year we expanded the event to include junior girls' teams from the local area.
This was our biggest year yet with 21 women's teams and 16 junior girl's teams entering. With food trucks, rale prizes, donations from Football Clubs and local businesses, we were able to raise $14,265 for Cancer Council. The money raised from our pink fundraiser will help fund world-class research into women's cancers, cancer prevention and advocacy programs, and support services to help those aected by women's cancers.
We would like to thank Club Rivers, the major sponsor of Peakhurst United FC, for their generous donation towards the pink socks worn by the players on the day.
Next year will be our 10th year of hosting the Pink Ribbon Gala Day and hopefully we can continue to grow the event, free the future from cancer and feel the 'Power of Pink.'

As dawn broke on ANZAC Day 2026, the forecourt of Club Rivers fell into a reverent stillness. Members, families, veterans, and the wider community gathered shoulder to shoulder, united by a shared purpose, to remember, to honour, and to give thanks.
Faces reflected generations of service and sacrifice—those who served, those who waited, and those who inherited the legacy of courage forged on distant shores. The words Lest We Forget were not merely spoken; they were felt.
We were reminded that ANZAC Day is not only about the past, but about the values that continue to guide us: courage, loyalty, compassion, and community.
As the sun rose higher, children stood quietly beside veterans, learning by example the meaning of remembrance. It was a powerful sight, one generation passing the torch of memory to the next, ensuring that the sacrifices made will never fade from our national conscience.
The 2026 ANZAC Day service at Club Rivers was a moving tribute, grounded in respect and strengthened by community spirit. It reairmed that remembrance lives not only in ceremonies, but in the way we care for one another every day.
Today, and always, we remember them.
