Tigard Farmer’s Market We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day at the Tigard Farmer’s Market last Sunday. As usual, we were able to draw in a lot of people with our Plinko game. We managed to have a few adults sign up to find out more about the club, and about 15 took our flyers that gave information about upcoming projects and named our meeting times and locations. This was our last Farmer’s Market of the 2026 season. We’ll be tallying the Plinko game results to see which of the causes will receive a $500 check from our club. If you don’t remember, the causes are Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp, Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s Cancer Program, the Tigard Kiwanis Endowment Trust and the Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools. A highlight of the day was having the Key Clubbers from Sherwood do their face painting. They were kept busy almost the whole time!

It’s the Season

Our Key Club and Builders Club are both gearing up campaigns to raise funds for TOT for UNICEF. This cause is supported by both of their international bodies.

Through early childhood, the brain grows at an amazing rate, with 90% of its development completed by age 5. But in Zambia, three out of four first-grade students aren’t ready for school because they haven’t received proper nutrition, health care & learning opportunities. You’ll be proud to know that our Sherwood Key and Builders Clubs are making a difference by supporting UNICEF efforts to:

 Build innovative community centers called insakas, with spaces for children to learn and play, a community kitchen, playground, water & sanitation facilities & a vegetable garden.  Train community-based volunteers, health care providers and teachers to work with parents to create nurturing and stimulating environments for young children.  Provide age-appropriate toys such as blocks, stringing beads and books to encourage development and strengthen bonds between parents and children.
